We read a lot of books here in our home. Lauren is reading books daily to improve her reading level. I also read to the girls as much as I can get them to sit still for it. This really helps my beginning and young readers to absorb new words as well as grammar.
Reading is the most important thing you can teach your children!
Recently we read a book called Mr. Bo Finds a New Home and a New Name. It’s a book about a cat (yes you all know how I feel about cats, but this books is very cute) that is up for adoption. The book is written entirely from the cat’s point of view.
It truly helped my girls understand the feelings of abandonment, rejection, loneliness and the need for a family not only for animals but children as well. In fact while reading the book they asked questions about adoption. It really was an opportunity for a great dialogue with them on the subject. They have a few friends that are adopted. Also, our pets are adopted as well!
It made a great read aloud book and I would say it would be a good book for reading alone for 3rd graders. The book, written by Timothy Battle, is actually based on a true story! Mr. Bo is his cat! I think that is pretty awesome!
You can buy Mr. Bo Finds a New Home and a New Name on Amazon.

I liked MrBoBooks on FB. However, the link in your post doesn’t work. There is no “.” between Mr and Bo. I found it by googling. haha
This is the link that I followed: https://www.facebook.com/pages/MrBoBooks/140566992654021

We adopted a very ill little kitty about 13 years ago. Sadly she passed away 2 years ago. She was the most beautiful and friendlly cat around. It’s hard to believe that we may never have had the opportunity to spend all those years with her. She was in isolation when we finally decided to get her, and she was going to be put down within a few days if she didn’t get any better. (She had a severe respiratory and eye infection.) I had my heart set on her from the first time I saw her and was heart-broken to find out that I might not be able to adopt her. We offered to take her to the vet to see if anything could be done. Sure enough, with some medicine she came around and we were so fortunate to be able to have her in our lives.
i currently have 4 pets 3 (3 cats, 1 dog) are rescuses adopted from a local humane society
Yes, we have adopted lots of pets. Currently, we have 2 dogs and 3 cats. We are huge animal lovers. They are my furry babies. I do a catch,spay/neuter and release program with our local shelter for feral cats as well.

We have never adopted a pet yet. We do have a bunny that was given to us. We have some fish too. My son is allergic to cats so we will never have one. My daughter wants a dog but her father says “No”.

I have not yet adopted a pet!
I adopted two cats, at seperate times. One was orange and white, the runt of the litter, but oh so cute. The other was a calico that fit in the palm of my hand, now she is huge .
the dog we have now was adopted, actually all the pets i have ever had were adopted.
I’ve taken in those that were abandoned but never adopted.
