Three Major Reasons Why People Move House

01.26.2017 by Girl on Fire // Leave a Comment

It is often said that we are products of our environments. The place we choose to live, and the house we choose to live in can say a lot about us, as well as defining who we are as people. Breaking away from that sometimes means breaking away from everything we are accustomed to. But generally speaking, most people tend to move house, or move out of their hometown at least once in their lives (even if they eventually return). If you have had this thought in your own mind for some time, it shows that you may be ready to make a move elsewhere – but do you know why that is? Moving house and moving areas is a really big decision – and it’s important to remember that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. But, in order to find out whether it’s the right decision for you, see if you identify with any of these common reasons why people move home.

Feeling stagnant

Ever get that feeling as though you are simply stuck in one place? If you live in the same town you were born in and the same place you grew up in, it is easy to sometimes feel as though you haven’t progressed. Maybe you’ve watched friends leave and even though you’re a homebody at heart, you know that deep down there’s part of you that longs to experience somewhere new. This is completely natural; humans are curious creatures and most of us like to live in a few different places before deciding on somewhere to settle for life. If you have itchy feet, don’t hesitate, otherwise you may spend the rest of your life wondering ‘what if’? Book that Removalist, pack up your stuff and get ready for your next adventure!

Your area changing

Towns and cities all over the world are changing constantly. Money is delegated to local authorities from government grants which are often used to spruce up a certain area, but on the flip side, you might have seen your  neighborhood regress from what you knew it as. Perhaps the crime rate has gone up heavily in recent years and you no longer feel comfortable bringing up a family in such a place.  Or maybe there is too much infrastructure there now, and you long for fields and countryside. Whatever it is, it is important that you accept that places do change, and you can find somewhere you love just as much elsewhere.

Having children

When you have kids, you need to seriously think about whether your area is suitable for them. Take a look at the local schools – if you don’t feel comfortable sending your kids to any of them, and you don’t fancy a long commute every morning, it might be worth looking at relocating. Also pay attention to what facilities are available for children in your current area – are there activity centers, sports teams and play parks? Your kids deserve to grow up somewhere that’s full of opportunity for them, so if you are not confident your current area can provide that for them, it might be time to make a move.

My Tropicana Points…

Oh wow, my Tropicana points have been adding up! I now have 22 points and I know I have one more cap somewhere.  It is buried on the mess I call my desk.  It’s so bad!  I want to find it though and add it in.  It’s time for me to spend some of these […]
