Michelangelo for Kids: His Life and Ideas, with 21 Activities

As a lot of you know, we are homeschoolers.  Well, actually unschoolers.  We are what you would call self-led learners.  It’s what works for all of us.  My youngest two love art and were thrilled to get to review Michelangelo for Kids: His Life and Ideas, with 21 Activities.  A non-fiction book with related activities included?  REALLY!  That makes it a winner for us!  Sometimes finding proper activities to go with the study of a person’s life can be hard.  This book has it all laid out for you, saving you time and headaches!

Books like this are left around our house to spark inspiration and creativity. This is much more than just a book about art. This is a book of knowledge. You can learn so much about Michelangelo’s life and his art.  But Michelangelo was more than just an artist.  He was also a poet, an architect, and an engineer.

The book is targeted for ages 9 and up.  It would be a great addition to your home library as well as your homeschool.  We will be working our way through the book and completing the activities along the way.  The included activities will help keep kids interested and also help them to relate to what they are learning.  Some of the activities include making homemade paint, creating a Renaissance style poem, learning the cross-hatch technique and MUCH more!

This book covers the life and growth of Michelangelo as a person and an artist as well.  From struggles to success, it’s a pretty in-depth description of his life.

Written by Author Simonetta Carr who is a former elementary school teacher turned homeschooler, she also has a background in Italian art.
