Making Your Home Clutter-Free

12.04.2019 by Girl on Fire // Leave a Comment

Have you ever thought to yourself that you have too much stuff? Most of us feel this way. After years of living in one place and accumulating items, we begin to feel overwhelmed with the precious space these particular items are taking up. It just makes sense that if you make your home clutter-free you will have more room.

Clutter-Free

As families grow up, they often accumulate too many things that they no longer need or want. Rather than purging our unwanted items, many of us just store them in the basement until we move which could be years down the road. When we have too many things in our home, we often get stressed out and overwhelmed. Having too many things can leave our house cluttered and ultimately our minds cluttered. Here are some ways that you can organize your home and make it clutter-free.

#1) Rent a Storage Unit

Renting a self-storage unit allows you the ability to declutter your home and organize your life. A storage unit allows you added space to store your belongings without having to invest in a bigger home. Whether you want a storage unit to use for years, or you just want it for a few months while you try to sell your home or go through different family events, they are always a great idea. They allow you the chance to quickly move things out of your home so that you can declutter your mind. If you know that you have too many things in your home, but you want to hold on to them until later, you can always rent a self-storage unit at Self Storage Kelowna British Columbia.

#2) Yard Sale

One of the best ways to declutter your home is to have an annual yard sale. Every member of your family can participate in the yard sale and declutter their own room. Having a yard sale enables you to make your home clutter-free and make money in the process of doing it.

One of the best ways to have a yard sale is to find things in your home that you have not touched in the last year. This includes clothes, dishes, bedding, lawn equipment, and any knick-knacks. If you have not used it in the last year, you will probably not use it in the next year.

#3) Donations

donate

Before donating your belongings, you may want to try the method of yard sale first, then donate after that. To do this, you should make two piles. One pile should be things that you want to get rid of no matter what. The next pile should be things that you will only get rid of if you can get money for it. After your yard sale, if you have items that have not sold but you still do not want to bring back into your home, you should donate them.

There are multiple places that you can donate items to help declutter your home. You can donate to various charities and receive tax deductions or give things to people in your neighborhood. You can help other families by helping yourself. Donating belongings helps declutter your home, boost your morale, and teach your children a valuable lesson.

#4) Invest In Storage Bins

One of the best ways to keep your belongings in your home, but to avoid clutter in every room, is to invest in storage bins and containers throughout your home. Each room in your house should have a storage container, like a storage bench, storage ottoman, or organized storage container. These containers can hold random things, extra blankets, children’s toys, or anything else that you do not use every day.

No matter what style your home is, you can find a storage container to match the theme and style of your home. You can find leather, cloth, and wood storage organizers to hold unnecessary items. Using these storage items can declutter your home and actually make your home safer for children. Storing unused items can reduce the number of things that your little ones can trip on.

Making your home clutter-free can allow you to free up space in your home and make your home appear much larger. Reducing the number of things you have can help clear your mind and help you feel less stressed. It allows you to purge your life and keep only the things you need in it.
