Top Tips for Making Money on eBay

01.14.2014 by Girl on Fire // Leave a Comment

money-150x190If you would like to increase your income or create a new income stream, eBay is a very good way to do it. Loads of people make money by selling on this online retail platform, but what are the best ways to do it? Here we will take a look at a few top tips for making money on eBay.

What to sell

First of all we should look at what you can sell on eBay, and the list of options is extensive. A quick look at the categories on the site shows you that you can sell anything from clothing to antiques, electronics and even cars. Some of the most popular things to sell and the best sellers include:

Clothes – If you have some clothes that have been lurking in your wardrobe for months or years without you wearing them, you should consider sticking them on eBay. Thousands of items of clothing are bought and sold online every day on eBay, and if you have clothing that you don’t wear, this can be a great way to make some money and clear out your wardrobe.

Shoes – Shoes are very popular on eBay, from women’s heels to gent’s shoes. There are also numerous shops such as City Shoes with their own eBay stores and you can set up your own if you have enough stock to shift. And if you have stacks of shoes you are in a good position to make some cash.

Collectibles – On eBay you can find a whole load of collectibles, from ancient antiques to kitsch novelties. This is a great place to find all kinds of odd bits and pieces, and subsequently a great place to sell them. Whether you have a collection of commemorative coins or a book of 1970s football stickers, there will be someone out there who is interested in them.

Junk – eBay is a fantastic way of getting rid of anything that you no longer want. Whether you think it has any value or you see it just as old junk, stick it online and you might be surprised what you get for it.

How to sell

Write a great title – To attract the right buyers to your item it is important to write a good title. Every word is important and should be informative. Use brand names, sizes for clothes and shoes and terms that you would type if searching for this item.

Describe your item thoroughly – Don’t get too promotion happy with your description. Yes mention the attractive points about your item but don’t hide any faults. Be as thorough as you can and then buyers won’t have any scope to complain about issues you have clearly mentioned.

Upload plenty of pictures – An item with lots of pictures is much more likely to attract a lot of attention than one without any, or with just one. Buyers need to know what they are spending their money on, so upload plenty of pictures.
