Liven Up Your Cooking With These Hot Tips

05.03.2017 by Girl on Fire // 1 Comment

Are you getting bored of cooking the same dishes again and again? Maybe you want to widen your repertoire of recipes but aren’t too sure how? Well, you don’t have to be blessed with amazing cooking skills. In fact, you just need to follow the following tips, and your cooking and baking will be a lot more exciting in an instant!

Get To Know Your Spices

One of the most obvious ways to liven up your cooking is to use a lot of spices. Don’t worry, not all spices are spicy! Some just add a huge punch of flavor to any dish. Not sure how to use them? It’s simple once you know how. If you want to cook meals that have been inspired by India, then you can’t go wrong by adding cardamom, cumin, and garam masala. These will recreate a great curried flavor. If you want to go for Mexican flavors, you should think about adding some coriander seeds and chili powder.

Play With Alcohol

As well as adding extra flavor with a wide range of spices, you will find that alcohol can also be a great flavor enhancer for your meals. Next time you are one of the liquor stores nearby, pick up some dark beer and wine. The beer will taste great added to beef stews and casseroles. Red wine adds some extra depth to tomato sauces and white wine pairs well with chicken and cream sauces. Don’t worry about cooking with alcohol if you have kids; the alcohol will burn off during cooking and will only leave the great flavor!

Change Your Cooking Methods

Most of us have our favorite way to cook. I love sticking stews and casseroles in the oven and leaving them for an hour or two. Other people I know prefer to cook on the hob and watch over their dish while it cooks. So why not try a different method of cooking to see if it inspires you to make some different styles of meals? Plus, it helps you discover healthier ways to cook, such as steaming.

Keep It Fresh

One reason why many of us are so disappointed with our attempts at cooking is that we don’t use as many fresh ingredients as we should. So, next time you go grocery shopping, you should stop buying frozen and tinned veg, and opt for fresh fruit and vegetables instead! Fresh ingredients will have a lot of flavor in them, while packaged, tinned, and frozen ones will have lost most of their flavor during the whole packaging process.

Always Try New Ingredients

Did you notice an ingredient that you had never seen before last time you were in the supermarket? Why not buy it next time you pop in! Google it and see what you can cook with it. Experimenting with new ingredients is a great way to find new flavors and be inspired to cook adventurous meals.

Hopefully, these tips will mean you never get bored of cooking again! Let me know what great recipes you come up with!
