Little League and Chiquita Join Forces

Forming a winning team of health, nutrition, exercise, and summer fun, Chiquita Brands and Little League Baseball have partnered up for a Chiquita FanFun campaign that offers discounts, mobile apps, and great prizes. The Chiquita FanFun Sweepstakes will run through the summer until August 31st, when one lucky family will win a Favorite Team Package four day, three night trip to the spring training of their favorite baseball team!

Chiquita Bananas are the Official Fresh Snack of Little League Baseball and Softball, and Chiquita will have a presence at the Little League World Series Championship games. Consumers can also collect Little League stickers and download the very first Chiquita mobile phone app, the Chiquita FanFun app, which is free on both iTunes and Android/Google Play.

The Chiquita FanFun app will showcase a finder feature, so banana-addicts will always be able to locate the nearest  participating Chiquita retailer, as well as trivia related to both Chiquita bananas and Little League. For example, did you know that Chiquita was founded in 1871, while Little League Baseball was started in 1939 as a three-team league in Williamsport, Pennsylvania?

And did you know that bananas are actually slightly radioactive—they naturally, safely contain trace amounts of the isotope potassium-40. Glean amazing trivia like that and more with the Chiquita FanFun app!

The FanFun mobile app also features the Little League Cardmaker which can be used to create customized trading cards. Imagine the excitement of Little Leaguers showing up at school with themselves featured on special trading cards! Those cards could be worth a fortune one day when they make it to the Majors.

Promoting exercise and nutrition, the Chiquita/Little League partnership encourages kids to stay physically active and consume plenty of vitamin-rich fruits. The campaign is expected to appeal to retailers, consumers, health advocates, baseball fanatics, and mobile app users.
