Landscaping Tips to Take Your Home’s Curb Appeal to the Max
It is never a good idea to underestimate the value of curb appeal. It adds some extra value to your home when you come to sell, and allows you to appreciate your surroundings more every time you step out into your yard. Here is a look at some simple (landscaping tips) but effective ways to boost curb appeal, from transforming your driveway to understanding what a berm can do you for your yard. Plus a look at why you need to keep your trees and plants under control.
Give your driveway an edge
A simple but effective trick that instantly enhances curb appeal is to edge your driveway.
If you install a border along the length of your driveway it will give it greater definition and add a touch of elegance. There are various materials you could use depending on your preference, from bricks to paving slabs and even stone if that is the look you are going for.
Regardless of the type of material, you decide to use, the result will create a classy driveway that provides a defined edge and is easy on the eye.
Installing edging is not a difficult task. Just cut out your edging, add a two-inch sand base and then lay the edging down for a sweeping driveway that has plenty of curb appeal.
Add some shape to your lawn
There are several ways to improve the appearance and appeal of your lawned area.
If you have a problem with pests attacking your lawn, you can use gopher machines to get rid of them and keep your grass area in better shape.
Another good trick for enhancing the appeal of your backyard would be to build a berm. A raised bank adds an extra level of interest to the view and it is a good way of integrating color and providing some nice soft curved edges.
Although the basic concept of a berm is easy to understand, there are thousands of different permutations and options to consider. You could use rocks or planting to create the raised area or a combination of the two.
Used in the right way, a berm is much more than the man-made mound of earth it is described as, so add some shape to your lawn and boost its aesthetic appeal.
Don’t hide your home away from view
If you have already planted trees and shrubs some while ago, if you haven’t cut back that foliage for some while, there is a fair chance that some of your home’s best features are being obscured from view.
Don’t allow these trees and shrubs to become overgrown, as your home could take on a look that is rather dark and uninviting.
Other issues to consider when you don’t cut back on the branches and leaves is the fact that your home won’t be getting as much sunlight as possible, plus you are inviting creatures like squirrels and mice to take up residence.
Cut back those trees and bushes so that you can show off the best features of your home.
If you want to give your home some added curb appeal all you have to do is follow some of these simple but effective tips and tricks.
