KinderCare Winter Boredom Busters!

12.04.2010 by Girl on Fire // 1 Comment

If your children attend a public school program, then I am sure you know that winter time brings a lot of time off from school.  You have to work or the kids are bored and need some activities to keep them entertained and busy.  KinderCare offers some wonderful programs and tips to help out with the Winter Boredom Blues…

One of the programs they offer is called KinderCare Winter Science Camp.  At the end of December, 1600 KinderCare Learning Centers across the U.S. transform into Winter Science Camps.  Winter Science Camp uses age-appropriate activities with a hands on approach. I think it is a proven fact that hands on learning keeps a kid interested a lot longer, improving what they retain.

KinderCare has some great tips to help you and your family get through that winter boredom.  Winter reading is a great way to spend time with your children and reconnect.  There is nothing better than cuddling on the couch with your children and a great book.  Kindercare offers parents a reading guide to help you.  It contains tips on reading to infants, toddlers and preschoolers as well as recommended age-appropriate book titles.

KinderCare also offers these tips for indoor playtime:

  • For infants, playing peek-a-boo will help baby recognize your voice.
  • To help infants and toddlers develop fine motor skills, provide a variety of soft, easy-to-grasp toys, such as soft blocks or plush toys.
  • Blow bubbles with your child and watch them have a blast as they chase and catch the bubbles – both reinforce motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

What are some of your tips for beating the winter boredom blues?
