Tiny Terror, A.K.A Emma and Jr. Roller Derby!

10.23.2012 by Girl on Fire // 19 Comments

Emma has joined Roller Derby! My itty bitty is the newest member of the North Texas Derby Revolution‘s Rolling Rebellion “Weebellions” division.

Anyone that knows Emma knows that she can be very shy, but very outgoing once she finds her comfort zone. I wasn’t sure if she would follow through on Roller Derby, but she did!

I’ve never witnessed her being so pumped up and excited over something. She was coached by Roller Derby Skater Carlie Sheen, who is so super nice.

What a great confidence and skill builder Roller Derby is for my girls. Now we just need to get our little skater girl Lauren to join. She is already a good skater and I think Derby would be great for her.

Does your town have a Jr. Derby team?

Is that everybody now? LOL… wait… is your hubby signed up? And there is one more daughter to go, right? Or did I miss her sign up announcement? You guys have fun! Hopefully we can come watch a match sometime. (And is that what they are called? A match?) 🙂

Jeremy only Skateboards….you will not catch him in Roller Skates! So far Morgan and Emma and then I start in a few days. Lauren is an awesome skater, but she is more interested in AHG than Roller Derby right now.

How cool is this!?!? I’ve never heard of Roller Derby for little kids, but so awesome! And, they have to be pretty brave to get out there and participate!

Jamie, it is sooooo cool! My oldest daughter Morgan (14) has been doing it for a few months https://notsoaveragemama.com/2012/08/23/helping-them-find-their-passion-timothygreen-oddlifemovie/ . It starts at age 4 all the way up to 17 1/2. After that they move up to the adult teams. Here is photos from their first bout: https://notsoaveragemama.com/2012/10/01/jr-roller-derby/ The Weebellions like Emma do not have bouts. Emma is only 6.

Yea, she loves it. When she is old enough she will move up with the bigger kids and actually get to skate bouts like her older sister. 🙂

It makes me happy because all the coaches are extremely awesome with all the kids. All the kids that do this are great kids too!

I’ve never heard of such a thing, but love the picture! We just had our first outing roller skating & wow! That was a huge workout for me…and I wasn’t even in skates. 😉

That is so cool! We recently went roller skating for the first time. My 6 year old fell once before she even hit the rink and off came the skates. She was done. My 9 year old skated for an hour and a half, and WOW, what a workout it was for me holding her hand and keeping her body upright, while holding my own balance. Gone were the easy days of skating to Donna Summer and the Village People with the disco balls whirling…Wait…that was all happening that night too…I’m just WAY older now and WAY less coordinated. All of this being said, I’m so impressed that your family does this! 🙂 You go girls!

Jill, I put skates on for the first time in like 20 something years. I was amazed that I could still skate! Not perfectly, but I didn’t fall! It is a work out for sure and hopefully will help spend some of Emma’s energy! 🙂
