I Vow To Let Myself Be Photographed!

09.22.2009 by Girl on Fire // 19 Comments

It’s been a longtime since I posted a photo of myself.  This photo is from about a year ago and is of Lauren and I.  I need to get more photos that include me…I’m working on this!

A few months back my BFF sent me a link to a post that The Pioneer Woman wrote, that could have been about me.  I like to be behind the camera not in front of it.  After reading this post I realized that this is not a positive way to be.  I notice as I try to snap a photo of Morgan that she hides her face and moves out of the way…just like me.  Did she get this from seeing me run from the camera?  So, in an effort to be a better mom and to be a better me, I will no loger run from the camera or grab it and delete!

I vow from this moment forward to be in photos.  I’m such a nerd and I need to get over it.

I read that post at PW too and it stuck with me since. It’s a hard thing to get over but she’s right. If anything happened to me, I know my family would want pictures.

You have no reason to hide…you’re beautiful! But I can certainly understand how you feel. I hate photos of myself. It pains me to see my ugly mug staring at me every time I load my blog page but I forced myself to put it there.

I am the same exact way. I hate the way I look so I hide whenever I see a camera coming.

Years ago my mom took my family to Disney. We have a picture of my then toddler son and daughter and my husband in front of the castle. It was a great family picture except I wasn’t in it. I totally regret it now. Sadly there is no way to go back and change that.

Someone told me once that I need pictures of myself for my kids and my grandkids so they can remember me when I’m old and gray. That really struck a cord with me.

I still hide from the camera but ever now and then I get brave and get my picture taken.

Isn’t that sad? We have no family pic. There is one when I was pregnant with J man and Morgan. That is it! maybe we should do a family photo for Christmas this year.

Your so pretty! And I love the effect of the black and white (graphic) feel to it. Well I popped over from UPrinting.com new site. Saw you was from Lake Dallas (commented there) and wanted to see your blog. Love the way it looks. Wish mine had this ‘professional’ feel to it.
Oh and by the way, I am not sure of too many mommies who are in front of the camera instead of behind it.

Ok, so you ain’t gonna run and hide or run, grab the camera and make them delete the picture right then and there…..BUT will you also not tell people to delete every picture they’ve posted of you on a place like Facebook or somethin’ even though that person thinks the photo looks fine and you don’t like it????

I’ll believe it when I see it!

….and yeah, I say Morgan’s doin’ it because she’s emulating you.

I HATE being photographed (unless someone is going to SERIOUSLY photoshop the hell out of my picture). I have some major old lady bags with dark circles going on and my whole face is dropping. It sucks to get old.

Can you tell that I’m STILL not ready?
