I like Gum….A Lot

04.01.2010 by Girl on Fire // 5 Comments

So, I’m trying to not smoke.

Gasppppppppppppppppppppppp….she smokes…..

I know.  It’s gross.  It’s not good for me and it is very expensive.

So anyways, back to the point I was making before you all freaked out at the revelation that I am not as perfect as you thought I was…..haha…me perfect, as if.

I like gum.  I like it a lot more when I am trying to not smoke.  I especially love Dentyne.

Have you seen the new Dentyne gum packages?  They are rad!  I don’t know about you, but I personally have my biggest urge to smoke when I am driving.  These awesome containers fit in my drink holder and have a whopping 60 pieces in each container!

They also feature cool limited addition artwork by Anthony Yankovic!  Dentyne premium badge edition bottles come in twelve limited edition designs for three flavors: Peppermint, Spearmint and Arctic Chill.  Anthony previously produced limited edition designs for trend and badge-driven categories like Apparel, Skateboard and Snowboards.

Arctic ChillThese cool little containers are being reused in our house!  They have a cool cap that can open two different ways and the kids have been using them for snacks and stuff in the car.  I think you could find a lot of ways to reuse these containers!  Be sure to follow Dentyne on Twitter!

Way to go on quiting smoking. It is expensive. I was a pack and a half a day smoker and I quit 6 years ago and am so glad. Cigarettes have really gone up in price since then too.

Good luck! I went under hypnosis to stop. That was almost 4 1/2 years ago.
I can’t imagine having to spend the amount of money that they are now. It’s like your mortgage!

Friendly advise: If you want to be successful, find something to do with your hands. That was one of my big things, even more than wanting something in my mouth. I didn’t know what to do with my hands. I still will pick up and hold things like I did a cigarette. Crazy, huh? Even if it’s just a pen, pencil…. whatever… occupy them and you’ll find it much easier.

Oh, and ….. I love gum, too! LOL

Gum is awesome! The hubby and I quit smoking last Sept… well he decided to quit smoking and I somehow got hooked into the process… oddly enough I found it easier to quit this time than any other time I had previously tried to quit before. I found I drank more tea and water.. just mostly keeping busy…

The trick for me was knowing that the craving would pass.. each time I did something for the first time without a smoke I would crave… but the next time I repeated that activity the craving wasn’t really there… essentially its like… you have to rewrite your life without a smoke… even now… if I were to go out to a place I haven’t been since I quit, I would have a mild craving (or intense one depending on how much I associate smoking with that activity) It gets easier 🙂

Keep strong and love that gum…. and the design… my that is snazzy.

My mom quit smoking about 13 years ago, and gum is all that got her through it, and continues to get her through it (besides a few friends lol) Good luck!
