I Drove the #Kia #Optima #Hybrid for 7 Days!

08.31.2012 by Girl on Fire // 3 Comments

I have to be honest…I did not know that Kia’s were so nice!

When they drove the car over I was shocked by how great it looked!  The Kia Optima Hybrid is a sharp looking car!  I caught my neighbors stepping outside to catch a glimpse of what was happening over at my house as the guys went over the operation of the car.

Pretty right?

When they started going over features of the car with me, in my head I was thinking…hey guys, this ain’t my first rodeo!  Then I quickly realized, I hadn’t ever been in this sorta rodeo before!  If they had not taken that time with me I would have had no clue how to get this car running!

This car is so futuristic to me!  I drive a big old Suburban.  You get in, turn the key, hit the gas.  That is pretty much it.  The Kia Optima Hybrid was like traveling to the future to me.   Things that confused me that first day, quickly spoiled me.

First of all…there is no key!  There is a little remote style thing that you keep in your pocket.  As long as it is in my pocket I could fully operate the car.  To unlock or lock I could just push a button on the door handle.  To start the car, step on the break and push the start button!  WOW, this was insanely cool to me!

Y’all know I am not technical, so if you are looking for techie style facts in a review…well you are on the wrong blog.  I speak in real people terms and the coolness factor.

I’m going to tell you all the things I loved about this car…

The trunk also houses the battery and takes up a little room in the rear of the trunk.  But still, look at all that room!  I have a family of 5 and had that trunk packed with Derby gear and groceries with plenty of room to spare.  For a car, I was seriously impressed with the trunk space.

Ok, remember I drive a big SUV.  I like room and a lot of it.  Usually my family has to cram to fit in a car.  We did not have that issue in the Kia Optima Hybrid.  There was plenty of room for all 3 of my girls and there was no complaining of being squished, or screams of “ughhhh….she’s touching me!”  You know what I mean?

Adjustable headrests in the backseat!  Fantastic feature in my opinion.  I have been in cars where I had to ride in the back and there was no such feature.  I like it!

This control panel had me in aww!  So many things I could do from the steering wheel alone!  Then over to the right you can see the screen.  On that screen you can operate all the cool features.  There is rear camera for backing up, which I really wish I had on my SUV!  This is a really great safety feature.  I can also operate satellite radio as well as GPS from that center console.

This passenger seat is great for someone like me.  If you are new to my blog, I will tell you quickly that I have a Neurological disease called RSD.  This is an extremely painful disease and sometimes being locked in to one position can be so painful.  This passenger seat was so roomy.  I could even fully recline the seat to stretch out a bit.  The seats have a cooling feature as well as a heating feature.  Everyone loved the cooling feature, but I myself did not use it.  I did use the heating feature on one of our longer drives and it was wonderful!  Yes, I used the heated seat feature in the summer, in Texas.  Heat helps my pain and I could have slept so wonderfully in that front seat.

The Kia Optima Hybrid has a ton of other features as well.  It even tells you if you have low tire pressure!  It also gets amazing gas mileage.  I drove it all over the place during my 7 days and never once had to get gas.  It even tells you on the dashboard how many miles you can get with the gas you have in the tank.   Be sure to check out the rest of my photos of the Kia Optima Hybrid in my Google+ album.

It’s one smart car!

I miss it…

I was given the use of a Kia Optima Hybrid for 7 days in exchange for my opinion on the car.  No compensation was received and all opinions are my own.

Nice! I am not a kia fan (we have had two) but did love driving my kia just hated the problems we had with them. All in all seems like a pretty cool car!

Wow! That seems to be quite big, and it’s hybrid, too! The perfect choice for a green and organic family like ours! And I’ve just checked the price, it is affordable, I guess.

Health Benefits Colloidal Silver It’s very rare that my family is sick enough to go to a doctor.  The kids are extremely healthy, I credit our extended breastfeeding for this.  They have never had anything more than a cold or stomach virus.  Our children have never had any of the funk that travels around that […]
