How To Put Your Baby To Sleep?

How To Put Your Baby To Sleep?

It usually takes a few months for the newborns to distinguish between nights and days, which explains why they tend to sleep off and on around the clock. But once your baby is a few weeks old, you could probably teach her a few healthy sleeping habits.

To help you and your little one earn the much-needed shut-eye, here are some of our favorite sleep tips, tricks and facts.

  1. Time your baby’s sleep right

Once your little one is around 6+ months, start following a sleep schedule. Try to put your baby to bed as she’s quieting down, just before she nods off.

  1. Tell your baby it’s time to sleep

Talk to your baby and her let know that this is the time for her to doze off. “Time to sleep. Good night. I love you.” or something similar, and always use the same phrase right before sleep. You might be wondering if she would get it right but trust me, it helps!

  1. Soothe your baby

After your routine, you will want to soothe your baby to be relaxed and sleepy. Different babies respond to different soothing methods. You can try bouncing, rocking, soothing their forehead, back or belly gently or walk them around the room in arms or the stroller. You could also breastfeed, but NOT all the way to sleep!

  1. Try not to look your baby in the eye

Many babies are easily stimulated. Eye contacts can engage her attention and signal it’s playtime.

Parents who make eye contact with sleepy babies inadvertently encourage them to snap out of their sleep zone. You could instead gaze around her belly, soothing her back and singing some lullaby with a quiet voice.

Following these tips helps establish healthy sleep habits. Parenting is not an easy job. The initial few months are the toughest. As a mum, this time it’s important for you to make some time off for yourself and relax. Soothe your baby to sleep and try indulging in a few online games. Try playing a game or two of bingo before you hit the bed, yourself! They offer a 300% match bonus based on the first deposit of £10. Read more about Betway bingo review, their terms and conditions before making the deposit!
