How To Make Taxes Less Stressful

08.01.2021 by Mattie Cook // Leave a Comment

Whenever tax season rolls around many people get stressed, like super stressed! But you don’t have to feel that way! Not with some good planning that is!

I like to think of myself as a pretty smart person, but boy do numbers get me stressed! Then with taxes, you add in columns and rows and multiplication! Just thinking about it gets my heart racing! I do everything I can do to avoid having to do anything other than basic addition and subtraction. So over my years of being an adult, I have assembled a list of trusty tools to avoid the stress!

I remember the first year I filed taxes, I think I was like 16. My grandma came over with a form and helped me fill it all out. Then we mailed it in and it took forever! Ever since then I’ve been using TurboTax to file my state and federal tax returns. They even have a self-employed package that helps me un-complicate things with all my different jobs! I have my full-time day job, online job, and then a few side hustles on top of that.

I love TurboTax because it’s all online! It asks you questions, you give the answers and it enters it all in! I fill all my stuff out the moment I get my W2’s and then it automatically files it for me when it’s allowed! They even tell you your estimated tax return or what you owe instantly! I don’t know about you but I like knowing how much I will be getting back or potentially owing. Knock on wood but I have only owed taxes once and I’m hoping to avoid that ever happening again!

When it comes to sales taxes I love TaxJar! It’s the same concept and super easy to use. Just enter in the information and it does all the work for you! I told y’all I am all about avoiding numbers at all costs! Sales taxes can be tricky so it’s important to make sure you are filing right to avoid any issues.

Another important thing to consider is a Voluntary Disclosure Agreement, this can potentially help you gain forgiveness for back taxes and move forward! I think it’s pretty easy to fall behind on taxes and having some of that forgiven can take a huge weight off!

Taxes don’t have to be so scary! Just figure out what works best for you and run with it! Some people may prefer the old-fashioned paper and calculator way, but I most definitely prefer my easy way haha! Being an adult is stressful and frustrating sometimes, but I feel like there are so many things that can be made less stressful for us if we just do a little research on ways to make them easier!

There are many tools out there on the internet and these are just a few of my favorites! These websites and a lot of coffee definitely make adulting wayyyyy easier! I’m pretty sure coffee makes everything better though, but I won’t give it all the credit in this scenario!

Mr. Food Decadent Desserts

It’s so crazy to me that Mr. Food is still around.  I remember him from when I was a kid and my mom trying out some of the recipes he would make on television.  I think he had a segment on one of the news shows?  Who knows…that was so forever ago. Anyhow, He has […]
