How To Keep Your Business Safe

09.05.2021 by Mattie Cook // Leave a Comment

You worked hard to start your business; endless late nights and early mornings and you want to do whatever you can to keep that business safe!

I don’t know about y’all, but I pour my heart and soul into my ideas! I don’t want to spend all my time and energy just to watch it all come crashing down! So I am doing whatever I possibly can to keep it safe!

When owning your own business it is important to take all of the precautions that you can. There are so many different things that can ruin a seemingly perfect business, from getting hacked, to managing money poorly.

Poor money management can take your business down fast! When I say fast, I mean FAST! If you want your business to have longevity, you need to have your finances in check. This means having every little thing in your budget; from payroll to an emergency fund. Payroll is a new thing for me and I am so thankful for this guide to it!

With COVID it’s also important to consider how that could possibly affect your business and how to plan for it. Perhaps you have to close your business to quarantine, or you lose customers due to the pandemic.

When getting my budget in check, I find that FreshBooks makes my life a million times easier! It helps you track mileage, set a budget, and even scans receipts for you! I love using an app for things like this because it takes one more thing off of my plate and I can use that time for other things on my to-do list!

It is also incredibly important to keep your internet presence safe! In today’s world businesses are ran primarily online it seems and it can be pretty complicated! I am honestly not the best at figuring out technology and it tends to stress me out.

I prefer not having to worry about things getting hacked or personal information ending up in the wrong hands. Keyfactor is super helpful for this! They help keep all of your internet information safe and your personal details to yourself. No more worrying about your private messages somehow ending up in the wrong hands! Here are some more tips to help keep your business safe online as well.

The internet can be a really tricky place and it’s easy to leak information if you’re not careful. People pretend to be someone they’re not and can scam you. Trolls can access passwords by gathering personal information from social media platforms and so many other scary things!

I’ve even had people steal my imaged and make fake accounts. They’ve used images of myself and my children with different names and living in different locations. The end goal? I guess a secret identity to use to scam people on the internet. That’s freaking scary, and sometimes it’s hard to get those fake profiles taken down.

There is no such thing as being too safe on the internet, whether it be your personal information or for your business. Take all of the precautions that you can!

The JuiceBox widget on my sidebar is begging me to go out to dinner (and the deals from Restaurant.com, who is sponsoring this post, are tempting as well). During the holidays, we don’t get out anywhere near enough, but here’s what we do love to do… I swap babysitting with my sister in law! She […]
