As we get older, it can be tempting to cast aside our roles in the holidays, presuming that many events are only good for children to celebrate and have fun. This doesn’t have to be the case though! If you love the holidays, there’s no reason not to celebrate the likes of Thanksgiving, Valentines and, of course, Halloween.
With the dawn of autumn comes the spookiest of holidays, which involves lots of fun, frolics and frights. Many of us can feel a little old for Halloween these days though, but it is possible to host a grown up Halloween, with as much fun as a traditional party!
Treats and eats
Rather than trick or treatin’, the grown up party just gets on with the eatin’! Sophisticated treats will please every guest, whilst promoting the flavours we adored from childhood. Simple but effective is the best way to go with these, and leave the gross-looking Halloween snacks to the kids!
Toffee apple muffins are incredibly easy to make, and don’t cost a bomb either. Made primarily with standard baking ingredients found around the house, the toffee apple muffin takes around an hour to prepare and bake, leaving you with plenty of time to sort out the drinks!
Creepy cocktails
When hosting a party, you may have contemplated creating cocktails for your guests, but been put off by the amount of effort and money you need to spend. While some cocktails are as complicated (and expensive) as works of art, there are some really effective drinks out there that couldn’t be more simple.
I personally can not wait to try the scooby snack shot recipe! I love Scooby Doo and this slime-green color is perfect for Halloween. They even have an option to make it blue if you would rather do that.
The Devil’s Torch is a totally potent and delicious cocktail that only has three ingredients! Vodka, white wine and grenadine are combined to make this creepy cocktail that’s sure to get the party started.
Devilish decorations
The best decorations, much like the food, take inspiration from our childhood to ignite memories, whilst retaining a sophisticated, grown up edge. And so, the perfect Halloween decoration surely is the carved pumpkin!
Take inspiration from exciting pumpkin carving techniques from around the world, using everything from the traditional methods to painting designs on to them.

Found these cutsie deviled eggs that I’m making for a grown-up Halloween party. Black Olives are used to make a spider on top of the egg.
Maybe one day I will have an adult Halloween party. But I may make The Devil’s Torch for no good reason other then trying it out. 🙂
