Let’s Talk About Handicap Bathroom Stalls…I’m Serious
You know those bathroom stalls with the little wheelchair sign? There is usually only one, but sometimes there could be 2 or more. You know, the big roomy one that has hand rails on the sides? You might be surprised to learn that those are designated for the disabled. People in wheelchairs as well as people with disabilities that make using a smaller stall impossible, or very hard. Some people rely on using those handrails. These are handicap bathroom stalls.
Inconsiderate Asshole
Now don’t get me wrong. I get that a mother toting more than one small child needs that large stall. I totally get it. I’ve been there. If there isn’t a designated family stall, then by all means use the big one. But…if you are a perfectly abled person (without multiple kids) and you walk by empty stalls and into the handicap designated stall, well…you, my friend, are being an inconsiderate asshole. You may not even realize it, that is why I am writing about this. I’m trying to help you not be an asshole.
Just Don’t Be an Asshole
I’m one of those people that need the handicap stall. I rely on those handrails. People in wheelchairs and people that use walkers need that room, that is why that stall (with the wheelchair sign) is so large. There are others that are not physically disabled that also would need to use that stall. People recovering from surgery, new moms, people with service dogs and yes…even the mom with more than one child.
Just don’t be an asshole.

I agree with you completely! People who are handicap deserve to have access to these facilities at all times. It’s only appropriate that people who don’t need special assistance do not use handicap items. Nicely put! Thanks for giving your input on this issue!
