Great Wolf Lodge Grapevine, More than Just a Water Park

05.06.2017 by Girl on Fire // 2 Comments

We don’t take family vacations very often.  When we do, it’s totally something local, like camping!  This weekend we are currently at Great Wolf Lodge Grapevine in Texas.  We’ve been here once before for Homeschool week, which was totally fun!  This location of Great Wolf Lodge opened in December of 2007 and is an amazing place to take a family vacation.

Disclosure: I have been invited by Great Wolf Lodge for a Media Event.  All expenses paid, however, I’m an honest girl and all opinions are my own.

Great Wolf Lodge Grapevine

Why Great Wolf Lodge?  Well, being that there is so much to do inside of the facility, you don’t have to worry about the weather ruining your plans!  Yes, they have an outdoor water park that is open from Memorial day until Labor day, but you really can have a blast without ever stepping foot outside of the building.

We just arrived yesterday afternoon and have already done so much stuff!  The indoor waterpark is huge!  There are activities for all ages in there!  I’ll be writing another post just about the water park area.  For now, I just want to touch base on how much there is to do here at Great Wolf Lodge Grapevine.

This rope course is amazing! I’m totally taking my crippled butt on it when Jeremy gets here! #GreatWolfLodge

The Outdoor Ropes Course is a new addition since I was last here.  It’s been open for about 2 years and is an outdoor structure.  Children, as well as adults, will enjoy this adventure, in fact….we are going to tackle this later today!  You are harnessed and attached to the structure the entire time and there is no risk of falling.  Once you reach the end of the ropes course there is a platform where you can jump and rappel down!  Now, if jumping isn’t on your list of things to do, you can walk back down with zero shame.

Howlers Peak is the outdoor ropes course and is open during good weather and stays open from about an hour after the indoor water park opens and closes about an hour before the water park closes.  I will be writing about this in another post as well and let you know how I did!!  Cripple Power!

MagiQuest seems to be a really popular feature here at Great Wolf Lodge.  The kids can be seen roaming the facility with magic wands searching for clues on a magnificent adventure.  We went and got our wands last night, but we were too tired to start the game.  We will try to fit that in today.  I did learn that you can take your wands that are purchased at Great Wolf Lodge Grapevine to Great Wolf Lodge facilities all over the United States and use them, you’ll just have to reactivate it each time.

If you have younger children you will want to check out Cub Club.  Cub Club is packed with activities for kids.  Even if they just want to chill and color for a bit.  Other craftiness happens here as well.  This is not a daycare though, don’t get too excited thinking you can ditch the kids and hit the bar.

#GreatWolfLodge so fun!

Creation Station is kind of like Build-a-Bear, kids will love picking out a critter to have stuffed and they have great outfits to get them looking spiffy.  I highly recommend this as a wonderful souvenir from your stay.

Scoops Kids Spa is a cute little experience for your little girls.  My girls have an appointment there at 3 pm today, so I will for sure fill you in on how that goes!

HowlyXDWood is an interactive movie experience for the family.  I believe they said there were 5 films to choose from and you are part of the action with 3D technology and moving seats!  I look forward to doing this later today or tomorrow.

Northern Lights Arcade is pretty big, bigger than I thought it would be.  They have all of the fun games here!  I spied SkeeBall and Air Hockey and may have to go whoop the husband’s bootie over there later today.  It is open 24 hours for all of your nerding needs.

Lazer Frenzy, yes…more fun!  This is basically a laser course.  You have to get through the laser beams without being touched!  Like one of those thief movies!  I’m not sure if we will make it to this experience or not, but we are trying to fit in as much as possible!

Wow…so much to do and I haven’t even covered it all!

Restaurants!  All of your dining needs are met!  You seriously never have to leave the building.  They even have a Starbucks inside!  A full Starbucks, not a mini!  Rooms also have a mini fridge, microwave and coffee pot.  So stock up on snacks and you are all set.

Be sure to follow us on Instagram to keep up with the adventures.  Also, subscribe so you do not miss a post!  I have a feeling it will take several posts to cover all of the amazingness that is Great Wolf Lodge Grapevine!  Check out hashtag #GreatWolfLodge to see the adventures of MANY!
