Yesterday my Derby name was approved! Now, I know most will automatically think…wow she must be a huge fan of The Hunger Games. Well, yea…I do like The Hunger Games..BUT this is me…not a fan tribute.
Girl on Fire #180
It’s no secret around here that I have RSD. RSD changed my life and my attitude in many ways. RSD’s main characteristic is burning. Like on fire burning pain. Gasoline poured on your body and someone threw the match. I’m not exaggerating and I am certainly not kidding. This is what a normal day is for me. This is my life. I am a Girl on Fire.
The number I chose is #180. I chose that because my illness changed my life. Not all of it is bad. In fact, aside from the pain…a lot of those changes are good. You can say my life did a 180 for good things. I don’t think that anyone would have expected me to learn how to play Roller Derby with my illness. But I am doing. I have a long way to go, but I am not a quitter.
So there you have it…Girl on Fire #180 represents me in a way no other Derby name could!
