Getting Back to (Home) School Organized! Oh and a Giveaway!

08.22.2011 by Girl on Fire // 3 Comments

Today was our first “official” day back to school.  It sounds funny saying that because we never really stop “school”.  You really can’t shut off the kids from learning.   We chose today because that is what the school district chose as their first day.

So my biggest goal this year is to be more organized.  I have to be!  We have so many more activities going on as the girls get older.  Community Service (Volunteer) hours, Sports, Scouting and other “extra’s“.

I write a lot of this stuff down, but you know how that goes.  Things get misplaced.  I need a go to place on my computer, preferably online where I can access it from anywhere and not worry about it getting lost.

These last few weeks of summer I have been researching a lot about how to get organized better than I have been in the past. I owe it to myself and family, the sicker I get the more organized things need to be.

The biggest thing I needed to learn was how to declutter!  I mean the right way, not the way I have been.  It’s more than just possessions…it’s also our brains.  I need to declutter my brain.  Things like the community service projects and hours the girls are involved with.  I need to get it somewhere safe and out of my brain.  School stuff, household stuff and more importantly to me recently, my health history as well as my families.

It’s really hard to hold on to the facts in the correct order and timeline when I just rely on my broken brain.

I think I found that place with AboutOne.com!  It’s a digital filing system and more!  A place I can safely store all of that information.  All of that information…not just school, not just household and not just medical.

It’s very cool, I can add photos from my mobile phone, with details! I can add a quick snippet about an accomplishment one of the girls made, like Lauren losing her first tooth.  Then I can push a button and have it make a newsletter from all of those memories to send to my family!

Besides the family newsletter, I can also use it to create hardcover photo memory books, paper greeting cards that mail themselves, health and education summaries, caregiver information sheets, home and vehicle maintenance summaries, alerts and reminders and much more.

I think this is probably one of the coolest online life management style sites I have been able to try out.  As a home manager, I feel that this can be very helpful and useful in a very painless way for anyone.

Try it free for yourself and have a chance to win some awesomeness….read on for how you can enter!

This is an amazing give away, especially since my kids go to a charter Montessori school that is tuition free, and parentially funded. Thank you soooo much. Go Sherwood Montessori!!!

Joey Totes Are So Rad!

Comments are now closed…winner will be announced tomorrow! I really love the idea of using reusable shopping bags…however, I hate hate hate the ones that are available at the stores.  They are so stiff and ugly and hard to get around to using.  Who wants to use some ugly bulky tote?  Not me, I’m way […]
