Maybe your baby has been awake for a long time, and you’re dying for some rest. It doesn’t matter whether it’s daytime or nighttime, babies have their own body clocks that we need to adapt to when we have them. These ideas should help you to get your baby to finally fall asleep:
Teach Your Baby That Night Time Is Different To Day Time
Right from the beginning, you should teach your baby that nighttime is different to daytime. If your baby falls asleep in the daytime, don’t worry about making their environment as silent as possible. They’ll need to get used to the noises of daytime. At nighttime, you can be quieter, and avoid playing with them so they learn that it’s for sleeping.
Get Them The Right Temperature
Your baby must be the right temperature to get to sleep. If they’re too hot or too cold, they won’t drop off.
Be Prepared For An Individual Sleep Pattern
Every single baby’s sleeping pattern is different. Some sleep in short bursts, some seem to barely sleep at all, and some seem to sleep more than they’re awake. Be prepared to get used to yours!
Be Prepared For Changes As They Age
As your baby enters different stages, their sleeping pattern will too. Don’t get too excited about cracking their sleeping pattern as it could all change.
Sing To Them Or Read To Them
Try singing to your baby, or even reading to them. They might fall asleep to the dulcet tones of your voice.
Take Them For A Drive
Finally, why not try taking your baby for a short drive to see if the car engine can lull them to sleep? Just make sure you have the right car seat!
