How To Get Back In Shape After Having A Baby

How To Get Back In Shape After Having A Baby

It’s a well-known fact that many new mothers are concerned about their weight after having a baby. In fact, many of them start planning on how they’ll get back in shape right from the moment they start adding some weight when pregnant. Everyone wants to stay in good shape but trying to lose weight after having a baby, with a now busier schedule can be challenging.

Get Back In Shape

While there are many weight-loss tips you can use to lose baby weight, the day-to-day mum is looking for weight-loss techniques that are simple to implement and effective. Here are our quick, proven ways to help you get back to shape.

Be More Active

Most mums are too overwhelmed with raising their newborn and even sleep-deprived to even think of working out. That’s expected, considering that most women’s bodies are not ready to be pushed hard until around six weeks after giving birth, even longer if you had a Cesarean section.

This doesn’t mean that you cannot do some forms of exercise. There are various exercises you can do after pregnancy including short walks, walking up and down the stairs, pelvic exercises and pushing a stroller. Make sure that your workouts are moderate until you feel comfortable enough to go further.

Breastfeed

Breastfeeding alone burns up to 500 calories a day. But your body also needs more calories to make healthy milk for your baby. While breastfeeding does help you lose weight, you’ll want to watch what you eat to avoid adding up more weight. Some women can gradually lose all their baby fat by breastfeeding alone.

However, you should know that once you’ve stopped breastfeeding or when you start supplementing your baby’s diet with solids, you could easily add on extra weight. You have be leaner with your diet and up your workout strategy to maintain fitness and health balance.

Weight Training Exercises

After the doctor’s recommended 6 or more weeks of post-baby care, you can now start lifting weights to get stronger and burn those extra pounds. A smart weight training strategy is to include your baby in your training routine. You don’t necessarily have to go to the gym or buy a set of dumbbells. Remember that you’ll still be spending much of your time raising your baby.

You can hold up your baby to your chest and do lunges or lie on your back and hold your baby above your chest and slowly push her up towards the ceiling a few times. Unless you’ve added a lot of weight and need drastic measures like tummy tuck procedures done in Vegas at the Julio Garcia, MD Cosmetic & Plastic Surgery Clinic to lose the extra pounds, experts always recommend starting with small exercises.

Get Enough Sleep

Unusual sleeping patterns like those forced on you by a newborn easily affect your metabolism, making it more challenging for you to lose weight. Getting enough sleep actually helps you lose extra pounds because you’ll not be spending much time eating high-sugar and high-calorie foods for the needed energy.

In fact, you should consider getting naps every time your newborn does. This way, you’ll get to avoid having long sleepless nights, keep your cravings in check and energy levels higher. Don’t sacrifice sleep for exercise because, with less sleep, you won’t have enough energy to workout.

The Bottom Line

In a Niagen review researchers also note that eating foods rich in Vitamin 3Bs like Niagen could also aid in weight loss. Losing baby weight doesn’t have to be stressful. So long as you’re doing the right exercises, having enough sleep, breastfeeding your baby as recommended, watching your fat and calories as well as eating healthy snacks, you can easily get back in shape.
