As you know, we are a homeschool family and lean strongly towards unschooling. We are always looking for fun ways to learn. Games are a great tool for home education, as well as a great tool for expanding on public education. As I have said a million times before, if you make it fun they will be more willing and will absorb it all like the little sponges that they are. GEOdice is just one more tool to add to the arsenal!
So how do you play it?
The goal of the game is to name countries and capitals that start with the letters on the five Letter Dice. BUT they also have to be within the continents on the two Continent Dice.
GeoDice is an Educational Geography Board Game. Now it says ages 6+, but honestly I think it is meant for older children. I would say 6+ with adult help though. Maybe mom and dad teaming up with the kids as teams. I can tell you that it let me know that I didn’t know quite as much as I thought I did, but then again I was never great at geography haha. I do think that it should be rebranded aimed at older kids. Maybe 12+ at a minimum. For a younger child it is confusing and hard and will quickly frustrate them. Atleast this was our experience. All in all, I think it is a wonderful educational game…just too difficult for my younger girls who are almost 7 and almost 9 years old.
Homeschoolers, be sure to support these great homeschool stores by purchasing GeoDice directly from www.rainbowresource.com and www.christianbook.com.
