I think this was one of my favorite moments of the entire trip! When we arrived at Gatorland I didn’t know what to expect…I guess I was thinking it would be a zoo like atmosphere where the animals were so far away that you could barely see them.
I was totally wrong! We were greeted out front by our guide for our time there. His name was Donny and he made our time there a lot of fun. He really knew his stuff and did a great job of explaining things to us.
Have you ever heard of a White Alligator? Not an albino, but actually White? They are called Leucistic alligators. We were given a very informative and quick education on the Leucistic alligators. We learned about how they were dicovered, why they look the way they do and why they could never survive in the wild. They have a special home at Gatorland and it is for their own protection. The poor critters can not be in the sun. They were some of the prettiest creatures I had ever seen. They have Blue eyes! I wish my girls would have been with me to see these gorgeous creatures!
After viewing, we were told we could feed some alligators. I was thinking ok, they’ll be some teeny tiny young alligators. Uh, no. These were 1,000+ lb alligators! They were massive and we were so close to them. There was nothing separating them from us. Our guide had a long stick and that was it. We were brave once again and ventured in to feed the gators!
Yes, we were this close to the alligators. Doesn’t he look like he’s smiling?
I had an amazing time at Gatorland and can not wait to be able to go there with my family one day! Thanks Gatorland!
Thanks again goes out to Global Resort Homes! Without them this event could not have happened!
I would love to say a special thanks to the following sponsors as well…
- Kissimmee Guest Services and Kissimmee Visitors Bureau for assisting with planning.
- Sam’s Club (I love you) for providing food and snacks for the houses.
- Anytime Costumes for providing Lei’s and grass skirts.
- Eversave for gift baskets in the houses.
- UPrinting for the event banner.
Gatorland provided the Brandcation blogging group with this great experience that I have blogged about above. All of the opinions are 100% my own.
