Your home should be more than a place where you lay your head. Sleep is important but most people don’t come home from work and jump into bed. What a boring way to live! A perfect home is a place where you can relax and recuperate from a long day’s work without any hassle. Although it’s a cliché, a home is a castle and yours should be impenetrable and super comfy!
A Home That’s Super Comfy

To get the right balance, it’s important to find features that scream coziness. Otherwise, the property will look more like a house than a home. And, this is the complete opposite style than the one that you want to incorporate. Owning a place that is inviting is far more enjoyable. Plus, it’s a memorable place to live.
Comfort isn’t an easy thing to instill in a home, however. Sure, some features are pretty straightforward and take care of themselves yet there are others that are trickier. After all, no one wants to spend a fortune on their castle, especially if they don’t have the budget. With that in mind, below are five hacks to a ridiculously relaxing interior that doesn’t break the bank.
Start At The Beginning
There is a temptation to begin with the big stuff, the things that are going to make a huge difference. Although it’s hard to resist, the bedroom and the living room can wait for now because there’s plenty of time. Don’t worry – good things come to those who wait. Instead, go to the start before you pass go and collect $200. The first thing people see when they arrive outside, you included, is the exterior. Therefore, a smart move is to set the tone by organizing the outside of the property. Something as benign as mowing the lawn can give the house a homely feel as it shouldn’t seem unruly. Homes that let the trees grow wild appear as if they are unloved thanks to the clutter outside. Keep in mind that a splash of paint never hurts. In the same vein, you should put a lot of effort into the house’s entryway. A mat that literally welcomes you is a small touch that has says a family lives here.
Use Layers
Fashion designers love this trick and interior specialists are no different. The reason is simple and it’s because it’s an excellent way to mix materials. Consider a piece of furniture for a moment. Money constraints probably mean you had to settle and buy one that wasn’t perfect. It may be leather instead of fabric, for instance. There is nothing wrong with cowhide but it can be a little cold. A blanket that you throw over the side of the sofa changes the style in one foul swoop. Now, instead of a less than inviting futon, there is a couch that attracts people to sit down and relax. This hack works for pretty much every piece in the house that isn’t warm and cozy. In fact, it’s also effective for features that are already hospitable. Beds are hardly uncomfortable. With the comforter and the pillows, they encourage people to lie down and rest. However, throw pillows are all the rage as they add another element of comfort. There are the cherries on top of the cake.
Be Novel
Thinking outside the box is encouraged, yet homeowners never want to go too far. The last thing people want is to be the person with the weird home that is the talk of the neighborhood. Sadly, this inhibits creativity because you may be scared to take a chance. What if it doesn’t come off and it looks silly? What will you do? The simple answer is to rip it out and start again. Sure, it’s more expensive than getting it right the first time, but even Rembrandt took multiple shots at his masterpieces. Let’s not get started on Picasso. Anyway, there’s no need to worry if there are obvious no-brainers. Take a beanbag chair. Childish and immature, it’s something the majority of people will avoid like the plague. However, more is better regarding beanbags as they are incredibly soothing. Plus, they don’t have to be juvenile. Another option that goes one step beyond is a hammock-cum-ceiling. Rather than a solid roof, you can use netting and lie and chill at a height.
Light It Up
Almost every post that you come across which focuses on interior design will have a section dedicated to lighting. So, to vary things up a bit, this post isn’t going to go over the same, rehashed tips. Instead, let’s concentrate on using natural light in the form of candles. Homes often don’t feel comfortable because they are cold and bare. Adding materials which are warm, such as throws and rugs, is one option yet there is only so much they can do. If you go overboard, the house will seem cluttered and untidy. Candles supplement other features as they give off a soft, delicate glow. And, they tend to release a smell which is inviting. Opt for scented candles for a two-in-one hit. The fact that they are cheap and last a relatively long time is a bonus. Of course, be careful when lighting them because they are a fire hazard. Never burn them when out of the house and blow them out before going to bed.
Style Or Substance?
In a perfect world, you would have both. And, it is possible to find a nice contrast as long as you are willing to compromise. The trick is always to remember the importance of navigation. Any time that you have to struggle to move around the house, then there is too much style. Functionality is key, which is why walking throughout the property should be effortless, as should sitting or lying down. Try and leave enough space so that one element doesn’t impact another. For example, the dinner table and chair combo shouldn’t require pulling out to sit down and eat a meal. If it does, you may want to consider a change.
Can you think of any more inviting ideas to make your home super comfy?
