We love family movie nights and tend to have them pretty often. Normally we all gather together in the living room and watch together while munching on freshly popped popcorn that Jeremy makes. We let the kids stay up past bedtime and we have a good time just relaxing and laughing.
This weeks movie night choice was “We Bought A Zoo”. In preparation for our movie night we did some shopping to feed our own zoo here at home. My zoo consists of one husband, 3 kids, 2 dogs and 2 turtles. They all eat a lot! So we headed to Walmart to pick up our movie and load up on some snacks for the entire zoo! You can view my whole shopping trip on Google+.
I was going to pick up something for the turtles, but Walmart didn’t have anything for our type of turtles besides crickets, Lauren was not thrilled about that so we will have to get them something later.
We were on the look out for some Milk-Bone treats that were supposed to have a $4 off coupon for “We Bought A Zoo”, but sadly we could not find any of the Del Monte pet products featuring the coupon at our store. Del Monte pet products are being featured in Women’s World magazine and Parade magazine.
We were able to find the movie as soon as we walked in the door!
We also picked up some Milk-Bone dog treats for the critters.
They were totally thrilled. It was dark out so forgive the photos…but I think you can still tell how happy they were!
For the special treat for the kiddo’s I picked up some Del Monte Fruit Cups. Del Monte fruit cups with a $0.50-off coupon are being featured in First for Women magazine also. I wanted to dress them up and turn them into a fun treat for the kids, while still staying somewhat healthy. Here is what we did….
Plus this…
As well as this…
Then do this…
Pour it in a bowl…
Throw on a bit of this…
Add some crumbled up Graham Crackers…
Then watch your kids do this…
The girls thought it was delicious! Super easy for me!
We really enjoyed watching “We Bought A Zoo”. What a great story that is full of emotion and life. Now, I will warn you that there is some language in the movie that can be a little harsh. Thing is, I really didn’t have a problem with it. My girls know that sometimes people use certain words in the heat of a moment. They know what is appropriate for them to say and not say and know that words are just words…nothing more than that.
We have already watched the movie twice and I totally want to go live with that family! The movie is based on a true story that starts with loss and anger and ends in something really spectacular. I loved it, the kids loved it and it was a fast favorite.

Sounds like a yummy snack! We just checked out We bought a Zoo for the first time today. It’s the first day of my son’s spring break!
My kiddos love it when the crackers get mushed up in the sauce and it becomes almost like a cinnamon syrup if you buy the cinnamon crackers. Yum!
