I’m thinking is time to take Lauren in for her first eye exam to see if she needs eyeglasses like her sister. I took Morgan in at a much younger age because of something that happened so suddenly with her. Her eyes were fine then one day one started to wander. Normally it would happen when she was sleepy. So at the age of 3 I took her for her first exam.
Morgan is now 12 and still wearing prescription glasses. Her vision is near perfect now, but her eye is still a little weak. They say this is something she could outgrow and that she is not a candidate for the corrective surgery. Apparently there is a difference between what Morgan’s eye does and an actual “Lazy Eye“. Her doctor said her’s is not that bad.
As she has gotten older her eye only tends to wander after she has left her glasses off for an extended amount of time. She normally only does that while swimming. Other than that she wears her glasses all of the time and has never given us any issues about it. Lately though, she has expressed an interest in contacts. We will have to discuss this with her eye doctor.
Lauren has not shown any of these symptoms of a weak eye, nor has she had any vision problems. I just think that this is probably the right age to take her into get checked. She will be 6 this month. I doubt she will need prescription eyeglasses, but you never can tell.
When did you take your child for their first eye exam if they seemed to have no vision or eye problems?

I got my first pair of contacts at age 16 and I’ll never forget looking up at stars and thinking,”Wow…I thought those were big fuzzy things, not little points of light!”
Glasses are WAY cool…I want a pair!
