What To Pack In Your Diaper Bag For A Newborn

05.29.2020 by Girl on Fire // Leave a Comment

Having a newborn brings a whole slew of things to do and lessons to learn. If you’re anything like me, you have a lengthy checklist of everything that needs to be done to prepare for your new arrival.

While there are lots of resources about packing a diaper bag, but not as many about packing one for a newborn baby. Check out our list of go-to newborn essentials to include in your diaper bag!

Create a Portable Changing Station

Have everything you’ll need for a diaper change. Pack up diapers, wipes, ointments, and baby powder. Find a reliable portable changing pad for those moments when you’re out and about without access to a changing table.

There’s nothing worse than finding that your little one has a blowout and the restaurant you’re at is not equipped with a changing station. Take matters into your own hands and come prepared!

Feeding Supplies

Whether you’re breastfeeding or bottle-feeding, you’ll want to make sure you have everything you need to create a smooth feeding experience for you and for baby. Be sure to pack nursing pads and a nursing cover if you use one, or bottles and formula or breast milk.

This travel size breastmilk cooler is a must! Breast pumping on the go? Try one of these hands-free, discreet breast pumps for optimal comfort and functionality.

All the Odds and Ends

After ensuring that you have the absolute essentials, consider all of the little things that would simplify your outing. Hand sanitizer, lotion, and chapstick for mom. Binkies, swaddle blankets, and a lovey for baby. Throw in your wallet and some snacks and you are prepared for anything!

If you have some extra space, include a small notebook and pen to write down sweet moments and memories that you don’t want to forget. I promise this will quickly become one of your greatest treasures from this special and fleeting time with your newborn!

So whether you’re getting ready for your first trip to the grocery store or a trip to visit Grandma and Grandpa, make sure you’re equipped with everything that you’ll need for a successful outing. Packing a diaper bag is definitely something you’ll want to take the time to do all the way through and make sure you get everything on your list. Happy packing!
