Right after returning from all the adventures in Florida I was back on a plane headed to Chicago! I packed my winter coat, but it was warmer in Chicago than it was in Florida! Texas was even colder than Chicago was.
So why did I go to Chicago? To meet up with Kraft Foods and the other Delicious Byte Bloggers. I met some great ladies there and had a wonderful time. I stayed at the Affinia Hotel in Downtown Chicago. Wow, this was a NICE hotel.
I had stairs in my room and a $6.00 bottle of water…yea, I didn’t open that water!
I arrived early with another blogger named Kim from Mommy Knows. She had a Nikon, She is awesome….like me! We had time to kill, so we started walking the streets of Chicago…no, not street walking….sight seeing! We hit a camera shop, a Starbucks and Gino’s East for lunch. YUM!
That night we had dinner at the C-House, one of the fanciest restaurants I have ever been to. It was pretty awesome. The food was so pretty to look at, you could tell they put a lot of time into making it look so nice. I would totally love to go stay again at the Affinia, the C-House is right inside of the Hotel.
Can you tell we were well fed while in Chicago with Kraft Foods? They really knew how to take care of a girl! See that slice of pie? That was me learning about food styling for food photography! This was very interesting to me since I love photographing everything that crosses my path. We were given a lot of great information by Allen of Kraft Foods, a food photographer. We got into a lengthy discussion about the famous Cool Whip Dollop! The Cool Whip Dollop is a practiced skill that very few can accomplish. They teach classes on it!
The photo of my pie above was just a snapshot by me, Allen then took my pie and gave it a little photo shoot. So much fun and interesting, he shoots a Nikon too by the way…you know what that means right? It means he is AWESOME!
I learned so much at the Kraft Kitchens. I learned about some new products that are coming out and was able to prepare some amazing tasting, yet simple recipes! I am going to close this post with one of the fantastic recipes I prepared while visiting with Kraft. This would make excellent gifts for the holidays, they were SO good, like I can’t even describe how awesome!
Cool Mint OREO Cookie Balls
What You Need
- 6 oz. (3/4 of 8-oz. pkg.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
- 1 pkg. (15.25 oz.) DOUBLE STUF OREO Cool Mint Creme Chocolate Sandwich Cookies, finely crushed (about 4 cups)
- 2 pkg. (6 squares each) BAKER’S White Chocolate, melted
- 6 drops green food coloring
- 2 Tbsp. chocolate sprinkles
MIX cream cheese and cookie crumbs until well blended.
SHAPE into 40 (1-inch) balls. Mix melted chocolate and food coloring until well blended. Dip balls in chocolate; place in single layer in shallow waxed paper-lined pan. Top with sprinkles.
REFRIGERATE 1 hour or until firm.
How to Store: Store in tightly covered container in refrigerator. How to Make Cookie Crumbs: Crushing OREO Cookies is a cinch with a rolling pin and a resealable plastic food storage bag. Or, process the cookies in your food processor or blender. How to Easily Dip Balls: To easily coat balls with the melted chocolate, add balls, in batches, to bowl of melted chocolate. Use 2 forks to roll balls in chocolate until evenly coated. Remove balls with forks, letting excess chocolate drip back into bowl. Place balls in prepared pan; let stand until firm.
Thanks so much to Kraft Foods for a wonderful time! I hope we can do it again soon!
Readers, keep your eyes peeled for more excellent recipes from Kraft Foods!
