Everyone is talking about homecoming and mums and dresses and all sorts of dance things right now! Morgan is not doing the homecoming thing this year, but we are possibly planning on prom! I like to have things all planned out in advance so we are talking about those details now. Date or no date, dresses, shoes…oh and clutches at thepromdresses.com.
The first question is who to take? I would prefer that she makes plans with another girl or a group of girls. You know how the boy thing goes…one minute they are the greatest cutest thing…then the next they are jerks. So with something that we are planning for so far in advance it is logical to go with friends. I think more and more kids are choosing to go to dances with friends instead of dates these days. Take a lot of pressure off and you will still have the boys there to dance with and hang out. Plus, we are all crashing downtown in a nice hotel! Total girls night! The prom is held at a hotel, so I plan to hang out in a room while the girls dance the night away.
The second detail to cover is the dress! The prom Morgan will eventually be attending has some pretty straight forward rules about dresses worn. I agree with these rules and we will have to be sure to buy a dress that adheres to the guidelines set forth by the committee. The guidelines are not outrageous by any means. Things like length of dress, straps, cleavage…know what I mean? But, we can not buy the dress yet because Morgan’s body is changing so much! The kid is also dropping weight, she is still changing. So we definitely can not buy this far in advance!
Shoes! I think comfort is key here. I don’t see the point of buying a heel if you can’t dance in it! But Morgan is short, so she wants heels. Maybe a wedge would be better? Either way, I bet the kids all kick their shoes off! Boots would be cute! Back in the day, I would have totally worn boots!
A cute clutch? Something pretty as well as functional. Needs to be small, but still have room for the necessary things. Lipstick, powder, you know! Essential items!
What else am I missing? All in all, I think we have most of it covered right? Oh duh, HAIR! She will need to have some killer hair!
So I think we have enough time to plan for a great memorable time! I have to check on the tickets and see when they need to be purchased by, check the hotel for great rates…would be nice if this mama could relax in a hot tub while the dance was going on. I’m going to have to factor that in to the plans for sure! Load up on some snacks and drinks for the room and it’s a party right? I would love to hear your tips and ideas on making this a night to remember!
