Christmas in July with Storkie.com (and Craft Ideas!)

07.07.2011 by Girl on Fire // Leave a Comment

Can you believe how fast summer is flying by?  It’s already July!  We are over half way through the year and Christmas is really right around the corner!

With Christmas approaching, it’s time to think about Christmas Cards and I want to have  photo Christmas cards made of the family this year.  I did some last year and waited so long, that by the time I got them I was too rattled and wrapped up in other things to get them sent out in time.  Ask my family…they got last years Christmas Cards this May!  I’m totally serious!  You should have seen the things they posted on my Facebook wall!

I was thinking about going for this style card this year.  I love the Black and White!

Thankfully, there are places like Storkie to help me get it done online with ease!  They don’t only offer Christmas Cards, they have a huge variety of cards for all occasions!  Are you getting married?  Having a baby?  A special birthday?

So since we are a crafty family I thught I would ask you a question…

What do you use your old Christmas Cards for?

We make tons of things out of ours.  We have used them to make bottle cap magnets, bookmarks, gift tags, collages, gift boxes and much much more.

I think the girls favorite project was the bottle cap magnets.  They are really very simple.  Just cut the designs out that you want to use to fit inside of a bottle cap.  Glue it in and then pour in the epoxy.  Let it dry and secure a button magnet to the back,.  Easy Peasy!

You can also use flat glass stones and modge podge the images to the flat part where you see it through the stone.  Then secure the magnet to the other side of the card cut out so the image is sandwiched between the magnet and the stone.  You can use an empty Altoids tin to store the stone magnets to give as a gift!  Decorate the tin with other car cut outs, paint or fabric!
