Home Late? These Careers Will Make Your Home Life Great

02.17.2017 by Girl on Fire // Leave a Comment

One of the worst things about being a mom and a full-time career woman is the time that you lose with your kids. You won’t be getting home between five and eight. If you’re on the latter time then you may only get about an hour with little children before they hit the pillow for the bed. It might even be less and if you’re starting early, there’s no guarantee you can make that up in the mornings. You might say, well at least we’ve got the weekends together, but don’t be so sure. Reports have suggested that a lot of parents are now completing seven-day weeks. Granted that doesn’t mean they are working full time through the weekend. But it does mean that even more time is being lost that they could be spending with their kids. It’s not a great situation to be in and if you find yourself spending more time in the office than with your family, you may want to make a change. Well, we’ve got a few options to consider here.

Be An Entrepreneur

As an entrepreneur, you’ll be working at home without the issues and stresses of a day in the office. You’ll be there when your kids get in from school, and you’ll be there in the morning to send them off. You’ll be around if they need you through the day and you won’t have to disappear at the weekends. Essentially, you’ll be a work from home mom and it could be the perfect solution if you’re tired of losing time with your family. That’s not to say running your own company is easy. It will take you some time to get started and even more to reach high levels of profitability. But really all you need to do is take the first step and that can be as simple as opening your own website. These days, that’s perfectly easy and you’ll find numerous sites online such as WordPress.

Your main challenge is going to be finding a target audience who will buy whatever you’re selling. But there’s an easy answer to that issue as well. You can work to build up an online profile by blogging and posting on social media. Eventually, you’ll make a name for yourself online that you’re able to sell on.

Medicine Without Long Hours

You might think that if you want to be there for your kids, it means you can’t work in high paying reputable industries, but that’s not true. The best example would be medicine because this is an industry that’s known for long hours and time in work that is outside of the 9 to 5 today. But, just because that’s the norm, it doesn’t mean you have to be part of it. If you want a job in medicine where the hours are easier there are lots of options like working industry. Dental nurse vacancies offer great levels of pay and the typical hours of an average career. You definitely won’t need to stay after hours, and there will be no emergency calls. After all, how often do you hear about a dentist being called in for a medical emergency? In this job, you’ll probably be home just in time to greet your kids back from school. Ultimately that’s what you want, and it’s not particularly stressful either. That means you’ll have plenty of time to focus on your kids without worrying about work all the time.

As Many Weeks As You Need

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you could get the same amount of holidays as your kids? Well, they might drive you insane eventually once you’re with them the whole summer. But, if you’re itching for this possibility, you might want to consider a job in teaching. As a teacher, the hours are fine, the pay is average and the holidays are absolutely to die for. This is probably the only career in the world where you can take a six to eight-week vacay and still get paid. Okay, you might have to work from home during some of this time, creating lesson plans. But at the same time, it’s not a particularly stressful workload that you’re going to have to deal with. You’ll probably only need to work a couple hours a day if at all through the summer. Though we suppose it does depend on the level that you’re teaching at, we think this is the perfect position for moms who want more time with their family.

Get Psyched

Another high paying job where you won’t be working nonstop, 24 hours a week would be as a psychologist. Psychologists get paid, on average over fifty-five thousand for less than forty hours per week. So, if you thought that working less meant a lower quality of life, well think again. With a salary like that, you’ll have more than enough money to spoil your kids rotten and still be home in time for tea. What will you be doing as a psychologist? You will be assessing patients, diagnosing disorders and arranging treatment plans. It’s worth pointing out that there’s no reason you can’t work from home with a job like this. Particularly, if you are offering your services privately. Your biggest problem as a psych will probably be getting attached to your patients. You may find that you start focusing on them more than your family. It will take some time before you can essentially, forget them once you’ve left the office.

Do you need a psych degree to work as a psychologist? Not necessarily, you can complete the same type of job with a similar degree in a related field.

Technical Writer

Another career where you can work from home with great levels of pay would be a technical writer. This isn’t your typical job working on a blog. Technical writers deliver highly complex manuals in specialized industries. They have to be written to the point and easy to understand for people using them. If you know how to write in this manner, you can earn anything up to seventy thousand a year!

There are lots of jobs that mean low hours, high pay and lots of time with your family. You just need to pick one that’s suitable for you.
