Cardinal Health, Hospital Quality at Home! #BringTheCaringHome #IC (ad)

10.29.2015 by Girl on Fire // 1 Comment

Cardinal Health sent me this product to try, and donated to a charity of my choice.

We go through our (un) fair share of health issues in my family.  Add in the fact that I have girls that skate Jr. Roller Derby and also love to skate at the Skate Park…well, we get injuries.  I love that my kids are fearless, but injuries still scare me.  Thankfully, my girls have not had a serious injury from playing Roller Derby.   The Cardinal Health Advanced Wound Care products cover a wide range of needs that aid healing.  This is perfect for us, because a lot of the injuries are things that we can treat at home.  They offer long-lasting protection which provides a moist environment.  Having sufficient protection helps promote wound healing.  We get blisters, minor cuts and scrapes from our sporting activities.  I also have quite a klutzy life and get minor burns from not paying attention.  I’ve had a few minor surgical wounds (like in office things) that also need at home care.

Hydrocolloid dressings

Cardinal Health medical products and services are used in most hospitals in the USA.  They just recently launched a line of at-home care products!  The Cardinal Health brand offers Advanced Wound Care, First Aid, Personal Care, and Home Healthcare products.  Cardinal Health has nearly 100 years of experience!  I guess they must know what they’re doing!

When my dad was released from rehab to come home, my mom had to stock medical supplies for his home care.  My dad had a feeding tube, she did everything at home just like they do in the hospitals, well I take that back…my mom did it better and more thorough.  There is definitely a need for people to have access to these health care products at home.  Did you know that 46.1 million inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures take place every year?  Access to proper supplies is important to aid in healing.

Let’s talk about some of the products in my advanced wound care package.

Vinyl Exam Gloves

#BringTheCaringHome #IC (ad). These vinyl gloves are going into our first aid kid. I feel it is important to use vinyl because so many are allergic to latex…like me!

It is important to keep Vinyl Gloves instead of Latex.  Many people, such as myself, are allergic to Latex.  You should always wear gloves when taking care of a wound, especially open wounds.  Staph is everywhere!  I have had staph so many times.  It is so painful, and can be very dangerous.  Please practice safety!

Silicone bordered foam dressings

Having #RSD causes lesions on my body. Several of those lesions became infected with staph. This silicone bordered foam dressing is perfect for protecting my wounds while they heal. #BringTheCaringHome #IC (ad) A photo posted by @girlonfire180 on Oct 29, 2015 at 8:15am PDT

Protective Underpads

My mom used a lot of things like this while caring for my dad at home. #BringTheCaringHome #IC (ad)

My mom went through a lot of these taking care of my dad. These are so important when you are caring for someone that spends a lot of time in a bed.

Hydrocolloid bandages

I use Hydrocolloid bandages a lot! The protection they give is amazing! #BringTheCaringHome #IC (ad) A photo posted by @girlonfire180 on Oct 29, 2015 at 8:18am PDT

These are one of my all time favorite things EVER created!  Hydrocolloid bandages offer some serious protection!  If you put them on a blister, it’s like erasing it’s existence!!  The first time I ever used one of these was when I was in New York, the hotel had a first aid pack in my room and I had a horrible blister.  I put one on and it made a huge difference!  We always have these in our skate bags!  I have also used them to protect lesions while healing.

Transparent dressings

These transparent dressings are something you see often in the hospital. Usually you see them used for iv/catheters. But they are also used for blisters, cuts, scrapes and can even be used to protect a new tattoo! #BringTheCaringHome #IC (ad)

Anyone who has had an IV has surely had one of these on it.  But did you know they also are great protection for cuts, scrapes, blisters and even new tattoos?

I’m super happy with all of these products, they are all safely stashed in our first aid kit that we carry in the car.

First of all, being the mom in this blog you are referring to, thank you, for letting me know I did a good job caring for your dad. I sure wish I would have had access to some of the Cardinal Health wound care products you show here. Much more sterile than most products I had access too. This is something, even though I cannot use them now for your dad, I would like to have in my First Aid Kit here at home and in my car.
