Bring on the Hummingbirds!

02.15.2010 by Girl on Fire // Leave a Comment

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of topfillfeeders.com. All opinions are 100% mine.

Those of you that know me, know that I have a fear of birds…and cats, oh and spider monkeys.  Even though these animals give me the creeps to be around, I still like to look at them.  The other day I got the best hummingbird feeder in the mail!

I love to look at hummingbirds! They are so different and fun to watch.  I was excited to get it all prepared and hung in the Crepe Myrtle in our front yard.  This is right outside our front window in our living room.  That way the girls and I can watch from inside and not disturb the hummingbirds.DSC_0007

You can get hummingbird feeders starting at $11!  That’s a deal considering all the education and entertainment it can provide.  I plan on using the hummingbird feeder for educational purposes.   Nature first hand is much better than in photos and television.

I love the hummingbird feeder we got!  It’s red (my favorite color) and doesn’t look tacky hanging in our tree.  It came with a powder to mix to make the nectar to fill the reservoir with.  That was really simple to do as well.  I just measured out the water and the powder and stirred!  Pretty red nectar for the birdies!  The top fill on this is great and so easy to do. It’s very wide at the top, so I didn’t have to worry about spilling and wasting.  The top just screws off.  Easy!

I had the J-man use fishing line to hang it in the tree.  You can close it so that it doesn’t leak out when you are hanging it.  Then you just pull it down a bit to open.

I’m not sure when the hummingbirds will come, we just had a lot of snow, but it is ready and waiting for them to arrive.  I guess I’ll look it up and see when they are usually here.

Be sure to go check out the top-fill challenge. You could when your own hummingbird feeder!
