Benefits of Homeschooling Our Kids

04.16.2020 by Mattie Cook // Leave a Comment

As the shape of the world changes during this new pandemic, almost every single school in the nation is closed. While many schools claim that they are still educating children online, all parents know that it is now their responsibility to homeschool their children.

Teachers may put lessons online to help teach children, but two hours of work a day is not really teaching kids and this places the responsibility on the parents.

Every parent today in the nation is now realizing what it is actually like to homeschool their own children on a daily basis. They are joining the 1 million Americans who already decide to homeschool their kids.

While homeschooling children can be a challenge, it is very beneficial for both parents and children. Here are some of the main benefits that parents, children, and the nation as a whole are seeing after homeschooling their children for less than a month.

Increased Relationships

When parents and children spend more time together learning, they are able to use the downtime and transitions to bond with one another. They are able to appreciate each other more and gain more respect for one other.

Children can see their parents in a new light and really start to appreciate their patience, teaching ability, and knowledge. Parents are also able to see their children in a new light. They are able to better appreciate how their minds work, understand their curiosity, and learn about their passions.

Children and their parents are able to spend more time together and ultimately form better, stronger, and healthier relationships. They can learn from each other and grow together as people.

Reduced Risk of Illness

Another main benefit of homeschooling your children is that you do not have to risk you or your families well being.

When the family stays home together, they do not have to worry about getting sick at school and bringing a germ home to the entire family. But if that happens, you can get medical supplies online to help the situation.

Customized Learning

Many parents who have been homeschooling their children for years do not believe in the traditional public school system. They do not like the one approach fits all. Many parents are able to understand what these veteran homeschool teachers mean.

When you homeschool your own children, you can teach them the way you want. The teacher may teach the material one way on the computer, but if your child does not understand it, you must find a solution.

You can use free online educational games to help your children learn. There is no one correct way to teach your child. As a parent, you can likely find the best way to do it.

Flexible Learning

Another great benefit of homeschooling your children is the ability to learn in a flexible way. You and your children can find time during the day that best fits you and their needs.

If you know that your child does not feel good one day, you can push the lesson back a day. If you know they are not a morning person, you can wait until the afternoon to start their school work. This flexibility allows more time for bonding, asking questions, and customizing the learning approach.

Warm Environment

Learning at home with parents and other family members typically allows your children to learn in the warmest and friendliest environment possible. Your child does not have to be afraid to ask questions or get the answers wrong.

There is no peer pressure and no pressure to be perfect. Schools can embarrass children and make them feel insecure. When children learn at home they are not exposed to these negative character builders.

As parents all over the country are staying at home with their children and homeschooling them with some guidance from online teaching, both parents and children are seeing the many benefits of this approach.

Parents and children are starting to bond together and learn in a productive and warm way. Parents are able to customize the learning to help their children learn in the best way possible.

As more and more people start to realize the benefits that homeschooling has, it could change the future of our education system forever.
