Barnes & Noble Back-to-(un)School #BNschoolsavings

09.01.2015 by Girl on Fire // 1 Comment

Wow, September is here!  Where did this year go?  Most children have already returned to school, whether it be public, private or homeschool.  Some kids, such as mine … do not have a set school year.  Everyday of living is a day of learning.  Our philosophy ties closely with unschooling.  I would not categorize us as radical unschoolers, but the term unschooler makes sense to us.  Most of our learning comes from life itself and reading.  I tell my kids that as long as they can read, they can learn anything.  Bookstores happen to be our favorite place to go.  My girls ask to go to Barnes & Noble to browse books, magazines and just to hang out and relax.

Right now, my oldest is 17 and in her “senior” year.  She is working on figuring out what she would like to do for a career.  So far, being a physical therapist is calling to her.  She decided to pick up a GED study guide so that she can see where she stands right now so that she can use this year to work on what she needs for college entrance.

My middle daughter loves everything about art.  We found her a great drawing book to use as part of her “curriculum” this year.  My youngest girl is working on tightening up her reading skills, so we are going through all of the sight words again and finding the gaps and getting those filled in.

Barnes & Noble offers an educators discount card that can be used by homeschool families as well.  If you have not signed up, you are missing out on an opportunity to save money for your home education.  They also offer a Barnes & Noble MasterCard.  This is something I did not know.  It is the best credit card for parents and college students purchasing textbooks, books, and supplies during the back-to-school season and beyond.  When you use the Barnes & Noble Mastercard to buy school supplies and textbooks, you will get 5% back!

Also, you will receive a $25 Barnes & Noble gift card after your first purchase with the card!  Then after that, each time you reach 2,500 points (Earn 1 reward point for every $1 spent on all other purchases (excluding Barnes and & Noble purchases), even for everyday purchases like gas and groceries, you will also receive a $25 Barnes & Noble gift card!  This is like free money people!  There isn’t an annual fee for the Barnes & Noble MasterCard either.

Use your Barnes & Noble MasterCard to purchase any of the following:

  • Books
  • NOOK & NOOK Books
  • Toys & Games
  • Home & Gifts
  • Movies & TV
  • Textbooks
  • Gift Cards
  • Newspapers & Magazines

This card is perfect for college students, parents of school-age children, homeschoolers and those that just looooove to read!

So, what does your back-to school look like?
