Choosing the Best: How to Purchase the Right Baby Diaper Bag Online

08.22.2019 by Girl on Fire // Leave a Comment

Baby Diaper Bag

At first glance, buying a baby diaper bag online might seem like an easy task especially when you consider just how many choices there are! You simply Google “buying a designer diaper bag”, click on the first diaper bag that you like, and make the purchase; it’s that easy!

Or is it?

When you really think about it, choosing the right diaper bag for you might not be as easy and as simple as you first thought it was. In fact, when you consider the sheer amount of choices available for diaper bags, it’s quite easy to choose the wrong diaper bag. And even for something as simple as a diaper bag, buyer’s remorse is a real thing. Data even shows that bags are one of the most common items that people experience the highest rate of buyer’s remorse over.

If you want to avoid feeling bad about buying the wrong diaper bag, here are five questions you should ask yourself before you make that purchase:

How Long Will You Use the Diaper Bag?

The first thing that you should ask yourself when it comes to buying a diaper bag is how long you will actually use the bag. Do you only have one child, or do you have or plan to have several kids? Keep in mind, you will be using the bag for at least two or three years PER CHILD on average.

What’s more, you should consider that a diaper bag will probably be one of the most used tools in your arsenal when it comes to taking care of your child. You will be using it every day, whether or not you will be going out with your baby. This means that you want a diaper bag that stands up to daily wear and tear.

What Items Will You Put Inside the Bag?

The simple truth is that babies need a lot of gear to get through the day, and a good diaper bag should be able to hold all of these items safely, neatly, and conveniently. This means that you need a diaper bag that’s large enough to hold all the items without looking like the bag is about to burst open at the seams, or you needing to force the bag’s sides together just to get the zipper to close. You also want a bag that has enough pockets and compartments so that you can easily separate and organize all the items inside as needed. This also ensures that you can reach in and grab an item quickly without worrying about accidentally pulling out every other item inside.

What Bag Type do You Want?

There are various diaper bag styles available for you, and you can choose depending on their appearance, function, and ease of use.

  • Backpack Diaper Bag

If you hate the idea of lugging around a heavy diaper bag in your hands or on your shoulders all day, you can opt for the backpack diaper bag. They leave your hands free, and they are generally roomy and can accommodate all your baby’s items. What’s more, most backpacks come with many pockets, and the straps allow them to easily attach to your stroller.

  • Messenger Diaper Bag

A modern version of the traditional diaper bag, messenger diaper bags are easier to carry around since they rest against your hip and the strap comes across your body. This distributes the weight of the diaper bag more easily. Messenger bags allow for easier access for your baby’s items, even if you’re on the go.

  • Tote Diaper Bag

Large, open, and easy to carry, tote diaper bags are perfect for parents who don’t like the hassle of opening zippers or flaps over and over. Most totes also look like a regular tote bag, so you can still look chic and stylish even if you’re carrying around baby items inside the bag.

What Extra Features Are You Looking For?

High-end diaper bags offer features that can make it even more convenient for you and your baby. If you’re still bottle-feeding your baby, you can opt for a diaper bag that has insulted pockets. Stroller clips allow for the bag to be affixed to your stroller, so you won’t need to carry it around all day.

One feature that you should absolutely spring for is the changing pad. Many diaper bags have a built-in changing pad or at least offers a compartment that can accommodate a changing pad. Changing pads give you a safe and clean surface where you can change your baby’s diaper.

What Budget Do You Have?

Of course, one of the biggest factors that you should consider when choosing a baby diaper bag is your budget. If you have the money, you should consider investing in a high-quality diaper bag for your child that you can use for years to come.

Once you’ve answered these five questions, you will be better equipped to buy a designer diaper bag online and choose the bag that’s just right for you.
