How Have You Resolved To Avoid Toy Clutter This Year?

I know, it’s March…end of March even.  LAST DAY!  But here is the thing, you don’t have to wait til a new year to make changes.  You can “resolve” to do whatever you want whenever you want.  So here is what we are doing to help resolve toy clutter.

Getting Rid of JUNK

You all have those toys floating around.  The junk filler type toys.  Tiny trinkets, kids meal toys, dollar store toys.  We’re ditching it.  All of it!  From here on out there will be a no junk crossing zone in our home.  I’m tired…really really tired.  The kids never play with that stuff once it makes it to their room anyhow.  Usually, they are found broken under a bed.

Focus on Experiences

Instead of a ton of gifts, we will focus on experiences.  The memories from experiences will last a lifetime….so much longer than another toy.  Camp in the backyard, go fishing, take a hike, go roller skating, stay in a hotel with an indoor pool!  So many ideas that cost nothing!

One In, Two Out

For every new thing that comes into the house, atleast two must leave the house.  We do this with clothing every few months and I am going to enforce this with toys too.  Like I said, I’m tired.  Too much stuff everywhere.  My kids are not the only guilty ones.  Hmm, maybe I can change this to ONE in and 10 out?  Yea, I think I will!

Renting Toys

Renting toys is a newer thing, but what a great way to let kids experience different toys without actually owning them!  We all know how quickly kids can get bored by a toy that they reallllly thought they wanted.  They HAD to have it.  They got it and it wasn’t all that and a bag of fries.  What a waste of money, there it goes into the other pile of forgotten toys!  So instead, rent the toys!  It’s a great way to encourage sharing and responsibility as well.  Pley is a monthly subscription that sends toys to your house for your kids to play with and then return.  They have LEGO sets, popular robotics sets, doll clothing, electronics and MORE.

Recently Pley has added new toys and a new option, for the low price of $9.99 children can receive one toy per month.  You can order a Pley gift card today!
