We’re all told every day about how important it is to recycle, we all know the benefits it can have and why we should do it. But instead of taking your recyclables to a center or a charity shop why not try your hand at turning your old junk into cool artworks.
For starters if you have any leftover wine bottles lying around rather than smashing them to bits in your local bottle bank you could paint them, texture them with tissue paper and then fill them with flowers to create a nice new vase. But it’s not just the bottle, the corks can even be taken and turned into small sculptures. All you need is some wire and you can create animals and abstract stick figures by stringing the wire through the corks.
You can even take old tin cans that you have lying around and paint them to turn them into bright and colorful storage jars. If you’re feeling creative you could also cut out shapes in them, place a candle inside and hang it in darkened room to create a luminary diorama across the walls.
Or why not take your old coffee filters, which can be the bane of any kitchen and turn them into paper craft. All you would need is an online guide or diagram to follow and you can turn your old ugly filters into something beautiful like colorful flowers that you can then place in old broken mugs to kill two birds with one stone.
You could even cut up old magazines and use them to give old bags a refreshing new look or turn them into a creative collage that you can use to brighten up your home.
One of the best things about recycling is that you can do almost anything with your leftovers so you could even come up with some easy recycling ideas to do with kids to encourage your children to start recycling or to provide them with a fun project.
Plus with kids the activity doesn’t have to be too complicated as you can have them make something like animals out of old egg containers, empty bottles of juice or even cut up old drinks cartons to make small doll houses or cardboard artworks. Also if you’ve just had a birthday party you can turn the paper plates you used into flowers that can be planted in the garden to help teach the kids about the importance of looking after the planet.
There are a ton of different projects, creations and simplistic artworks that people can possibly come up with by using old recyclable items that they might have lying around the home.
With such a large source of creativity readily available in your home more people should really be trying their hand at taking apart their trash at home and seeing what kinds of things they can make out of stuff they would normally throw away.
