I’m sure I am not the only one that could use a laugh right now. The stress of the holidays, recent current events…some which are horrifying. So I share with you this video from Fiat, called “The Motherhood”. Turn your speakers up and get down with yo bad mama self!
I’ve watched the video no less than 10 times. Each time I hear another line more clearly that has me rolling with laughter! Especially the bits about nursing, even though my girls weaned many years ago, it still hits home in a hilarious way.
Here are some of my favorite lines from “The Motherhood” rap…
“I’m livin’ it large, by large I mean bigger”
HA! Yes, I am…but I’m working on that!
“I express, like the best, from these holes in my chest”
That line made me spit my drink…
Then if that wasn’t funny enough…
“I got my bitches on my side (dogs), and my hoes in the back (garden tools).”
She’s so hard hahaha!
“With my elbows deep, in infant defecation”
The word defecate always gets me!
“Now I’m flooding up your timeline with my baby news”
Hilarious because we know this is true! Facebook is like the number one means of communicating…even if people don’t want all of your communication hahaha!
“I’m expressive, I express all the time, cause the doc says…to not breastfeed is a crime”
I’m still laughing…
“Spent 3 months in p.j.s it was clearly a sign, joined a book club, just so I could drink some wine”
Ha, I know those moms!
Fiat, you nailed it! You made a commercial that connected with everyday moms in a way that is hilarious and not condescending.
I’m not a rap fan, but I could see myself rolling through my hood listening to this….when does the C.D version come out?
-peace out, from the Motherhood!
The objective of this video was to create an engaging film that surprises and delights viewers with sharp humour that all young mothers can relate to. The heroine is depicted as a normal down to earth mum dealing with and rapping about the trials and tribulations of being a mother. The video was intended as a fun, cheeky and well observed focus on the trials of motherhood, discussed with a surprising frankness to make the target audience feel understood. The idea of the ’Motherhood’ repeated throughout the video was utilised to help create a sense of unity for all young mothers who can relate to the video.
