Tonight our family was faced with very hard decision. Morgan has two dogs, Blue and Bullet. She used to have a dog named Belle who was Blue’s mother. Both Belle and Bullet are rescues and both Blue Heelers. Well, Belle was a Blue Heeler mix and Bullet is a full Blue Heeler.
Bullet is an amazing dog. Sweet, smart, loyal and now…old. Belle who we had rescued as a young puppy was lovable and sweet and then suddenly she became very aggressive. She attacked Bullet on a few occasions and fearful for the safety of our children we decided she had to go. This of course was soon after she had given birth to one very unexpected puppy that we named Blue.
We let Morgan keep the puppy as well as Bullet. All seemed good, but Blue was a little strange. She displayed a lot of her mother’s behavior. Very skiddish and nervous and very animal aggressive. This aggression has increasingly become directed at Bullet. This little old man of a dog who has never provoked her in anyway.
Tonight was the last straw. It was so bad that it was Morgan this time that made the decision. A very hard decision that the dog she loves must go. She truly does love this dog, but for the safety of Bullet and any other dog that may be a victim she knows she can no longer risk it. She is torn up, but at the same time making such a mature decision completely on her own.
One more thing to show that we have done a good job raising our kids. As much as I doubt myself, this just proves we are on the right road to raising extraordinary adults. Any of you that know Morgan know how big of a decision this was for her. This is a girl that loves any and all animals. Tomorrow Blue will be taken to a No Kill Shelter.

Wow, I can’t imagine making that decision as an adult, let alone as a child. Props to you and her, I would have made the same decision for the safety of my son. Some dogs are just not people dogs. ((hugs)) I hope tomorrow goes ok.

Morgan is such an amazing girl. The way she loves those dogs and cares for them both, then to have such a decision to make, how awful for her! We are proud of her, for both finding Blue a new home and keeping old man Bullet to love and care for the rest of his doggie years. She is a beautiful girl with the biggest heart. You and J both are wonderful parents with 3 fantastic girls.
