A fun-filled adventure awaits in Nottingham

12.18.2012 by Girl on Fire // 1 Comment

Nottingham is home to more bars, restaurants and pubs than any other city in Europe, due to this factor alone; it’s not renowned for relaxation. Those that wish to embark on a fun-filled adventure will do well to choose a trip to Nottingham. Both Rock City and The Maze are recommended clubs and promise a night to remember.

The famous designer Paul Smith was born and bred in this city, one of its many claims to fame. He began his fashion empire in a miniscule boutique in Byard Lane way back in 1970. There are now two larger Paul Smith shops in Nottingham, the biggest of which resides on Willoughby House. After a visit to either of the acclaimed stores, take a trip along the Nottingham Riviera – a 300-tonne beach, complete with a café and bar. Other attractions include beach volleyball, fairground rides, and live music.

Saturday lunchtimes can be spent in the Walk Café, which serves impressive platters all day long. A favourite of the locals comes in the form of mojama tuna with quails’ eggs, olives, pepper and sourdough. For ladies that love to lunch, try afternoon tea, which is complemented by a glass of champagne from 3pm.

Saturday evenings are a treat when spent at Nottingham’s Playhouse. There are always a number of plays taking place here, just make sure you check the listings in advance.

The Attenborough Nature Reserve is just a short hop from the town centre, after a few hours here, indulge in a hearty meal at the Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem pub, a 12 th century establishment that must not be missed.

Getting to Nottingham is easiest by train travel, and such a form of transport will allow you avoid traffic and parking issues. Simply sit back, relax and enjoy the journey.

Finding a hotel in the city centre is a great idea, as this will allow you with access to all of the sights and sounds of the city. There are a number of hip hotels in the town centre and many boast restaurants and cocktail bars.

Train ticket prices will vary depending on where you intend to travel from, the times you intend to travel and also how long you book the tickets in advance. The more in advance you tend to book, the lower in price the tickets will be. While aboard the train, guests can enjoy internet, a good menu and a number of drink options.
