5 Tips For Making Your Bedroom A Place Of Calm

01.25.2018 by Girl on Fire // Leave a Comment

If you could grant one wish to a parent, most of them would ask for better sleep. It can be tough to get the quality sleep needed to get you through the day thanks to the demands of children and an endless to-do list.  Read on for tips on making your bedroom a place of calm.

A Place Of Calm

Your bedroom should be your sanctuary, the place where you retire at the end of the day for peace and calm. Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case, and your bedroom could be the thing holding you back from sleeping well at night.

Improve your sleep quality by making your bedroom a place for calm with these five simple tips.

1. Change your color scheme

You wouldn’t think that the color of your bedroom walls could make a bedroom calmer, but it can actually make a big difference to the look and feel of your room. Some paint colors that promote calm include cream and greys, blues and purples. Consider giving your bedroom walls a makeover that could help you feel calmer and ready for sleep.

2. Make sure your bed is comfortable

A comfortable bed is one of the most important things for a good night’s sleep. An uncomfortable bed can cause back problems and leave you tossing and turning all night – things that will seriously affect your sleep quality. If your bedroom furniture is due for an upgrade, start exploring the different options that are out there. Choose a quality mattress that is going to give you what you need and treat yourself to some new bedding to make that first night in your new bed extra special.

3. Keep it minimal

A bedroom that is full of clutter can cause the complete opposite of calm. As well as worrying about stepping on things all the time, it could be affecting your stress levels. Mess has been shown to cause stress, so look for ways to declutter your bedroom and adopt a more minimal approach. You might need to invest in some more storage and closets to help make sure everything has its place.

4. Experiment with fragrance

Fragrance can have a significant effect on your mood, and many people believe in the power of aromatherapy. Try bringing in fragrances known to help you sleep better at night such as lavender, jasmine, and ylang-ylang. Try using some essential oils to help you drift off and enjoy a more restful night’s sleep.

5. Put the technology away

Many people are guilty of playing with their phone in bed, typing away on a laptop or browsing the internet on a tablet, but this technology could be affecting your quality of sleep. Get into the habit of putting down your devices an hour before you go to bed and try reading instead. After a few days, you could notice a difference in how fast you’re able to drift off, leaving you feeling much more refreshed in the morning.

Your bedroom needs to be a calming place to ensure better sleep, so start thinking about how you can change your bedroom setup to help improve your sleep quality permanently.

I Was in Bentonville!

I spent last week in Bentonville, Arkansas with some amazing bloggers, PR and Sam’s Club!  We got some insider stuff that I can’t share quite yet!  Soon though, I promise. Sam’s Club is making some changes to make shopping there easier on members.  I was so impressed with the things I learned. Related
