We live right by the lake and our summers are filled with visits to the beach on a regular basis! When I was approached about reviewing the D6 SurfSkimmer I had to let my girls check it out! When Morgan was little we lived at the beach in Florida and she used to skimboard. This is similar, but it has a handle kind of like a scooter does. That handle can be removed though to use it as a regular skim board as well.
The handle easily comes off so each board has the ability to act as a traditional skimboard. The 2-in-1 functionality allows for easy learning and advanced maneuvers.
The handle makes this a lot easier for little ones to use. We have only used it once so far and our lake level is really low, which creates a bowl effect at the coast instead of a smooth coastline. This made using the D6 SurfSkimmer a bit harder since it would get deeper instead of being a smooth coast line. Lauren practiced and practiced and started getting the hang of it. It will definitely be a piece of cake for her once the coastline smooths out. Check out this video of her practicing.
See how it catches and jerks to a stop? That is because of the bowl shape of our coastline. Nothing to do with the SurfSkimmer. I think this is a great thing to pick up for your beach time fun this year and I know ours will get used til it’s worn out!
