It’s 2011 and I honestly have seen quite a rise in the women I see breastfeeding. It’s so awesome to see women feeding their babies naturally out in public, not hidden away somewhere like they are the dirty secret of being human. I’ve been so impressed to see young mothers out there breastfeeding their very first babies and being proud and not hiding this totally natural act.
Then I see this crap about a woman being fired, she says because she wants to pump milk for her baby while at work….SAY WHAT? Fired for taking a few minutes to pump milk for her baby?
Heather Burgbacher taught for five years at the Rocky Mountain Academy in Evergreen, Colorado. She had no problem when she pumped for her first child, but with a new director and her second child the issues arose. The director then told her she should “switch to formula.”
The ACLU has taken up the case. It is the law that she has the right to do this. What do you think?
