Wordless Wednesday

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

I love that summer is winding down.  The days are so much more pleasant and you an actually do stuff outside…in the middle of the day even!!  Last night we even took a long family walk, it was wonderful!

We spend a lot of time in the front yard.  We have an awesome front yard with the softest grass ever.  The lawn was filled with stickers at our last house and we couldn’t do things like lie in the grass.

Wordless Wednesday, Stupid Cable

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

For over a week now all of our cable services have been going out daily.  I don’t have time for it to be out.  I am still so behind from the surgery and being out of commission.  So if you are waiting on something for me, please be patient.  I am trying and it will be done!

It’s the tv, internet and the phone.  They say it’s because of the train tracks they are putting in.  they are building a passenger rail line from Dallas to Denton and they are right by us right now.

It has cooled down this week…so early for Texas but I am NOT going to complain.  I am so ready for fall!

This photo cracks me up, hope you like it!

Wordless Wednesday, Denied

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

So, I’m supposed to have this appointment with the new Neurologist a week from this coming Monday. They call and ask to move my appointment to this coming Monday instead. I told her no, that I had made it that far in advance so that I could get the money together for the appointment since I do not have insurance.

She says…they don’t take self pay…

Wonderful.  I guess us people with no health insurance don’t deserve to have medical care…even if we do pay cash up front.

I’m pissed off.  It isn’t fair at all to be turned away like that.  They take the cash up front before you even see the doctor, so what’s the problem?

Wordless Wednesday, School

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

It’s almost time to start school again and I have been hunting down supplies for this year.  We’ve picked up some nice wooden products to add to the mix including a Melissa & Doug Classic Wooden Abacus.

We also picked up the Melissa & Doug 100 Piece Wood Blocks Set and the girls love them!  Morgan got LifePac, Grade 7 Math and was anxious to get started already!

I think as long as I get myself super organized with the help of The Well-Planned Day and have everything functioning within the next week then this will be a great year!!  Even thought I am sick, I know I can get it done as long as I have a plan.

So what do you have planned for this school year?

Wordless Wednesday, I’m Crippled…

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Yesterday I went to the Rheumatologist.  I was in the most horrid pain!  I could barely walk.  The pain I feel in my right arm has spread to other concentrated areas including my legs and my other arm.  I think I’m crippled.  I haven’t been sleeping.  I try things that help for a little bit, then all I do is cry.  It sucks.

The Rheumatologist wrote me a prescription for a muscle relaxer and I took that last night for the first time.  It seemed to help some.  I also have an appointment with a new Neurologist.  I don’t think the other one was willing to search for the underlying Neurological issue that we believe exists.

The Rheumatologist mentioned that the Neurologist may have me do a nerve study.  I don’t really know what that is, but it sounds painful and expensive.  Speaking of expensive, are you voting for me?  I really could use this.  The medical bills are insane and with all the specialist appointments, we’re struggling.  Thank you to all those that continue to vote for me daily!

I think next week I am going to take a day and sit my crippled ass down at the medicaid office and see what can be done to help us.  I need so many tests and doctors appointments and with me not working, I need help.  I paid the money in, so you would think that it would be there for times like this.  Instead I am sure my funds are being used on some illegal citizen or a drug addict meth head.  I was already told we do not qualify for indigent health care.  We can pay our bills so we are not poor enough…they told me a family of 5 has to bring in LESS than $700 a month.  Seriously.

I posted this photo the other day, but I am going to use it as my “wordless” Wednesday because it makes me smile.

Wordless Wednesday, Vintage

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

I love, love, love vintage cameras.  I don’t even care if they work or not.  I like the way the look, I like to think about the history they may have captured.  Who owned it before me?

I have been lucky to find some while hunting at local thrift stores.  One even came with the owners manual where the person who had purchased it had written the year and place they bought the camera at.  How cool is that?

They have a lot of character!!  Actually all things vintage have this same appeal for me.  I even found a vintage pair of roller skates!  You know the oldschool metal ones that you strapped over your shoe?  They even have metal wheels!!  I’ll post a photo of them later.

For now though, enjoy this gorgeous bit of history…

I also wanted to share a photo of Morgan with one of the horses from Horse Camp, where she volunteers.  Last Saturday was the last day.

Wordless Wednesday, Lake Time!

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

I love that we live so close to the lake.  Free entertainment for the family.  Just hanging out together on the lake, doing donuts, relaxing and fishing!  We try to factor in as much free entertainment as we can with our family.  Getting back to basics is something we try to instill in the girls.  A love for the outdoors.

We had been planning camping trips for this summer, but with all my health stuff those plans were quickly changed.  There is always the fall hopefully!  Actually fall will be nice since it gets so hot here.

The girls love going out on the lake and hanging their feet in the water.  Watching for fish jumping out of the water just inches from them.  They also love to fish.  Life doesn’t get much better than this!

Wordless Wednesday, Playing Catch Up!

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

Wow, Wednesday again already?  Things have been busy busy busy as always around here.  I am taking the Neurontin and have been on it for over a week now.  Next Saturday the dose will double up.  We shall see….it doesn’t make me tired like they said it will, so maybe they will give me something to help me sleep.  The pain is still there for sure.

Tomorrow I have a check up with the OBGYN who preformed my surgery.  I think everything is doing good with that besides the fact that my belly is now deformed and lumpy.  She said it would go away, I hope she is right…I really don’t like being lumpy! Weight is coming off and that makes me super happy!  Courtney took a photo of me and posted it to her facebook.  Normally I would have been bitchin’ at her about double chins and crap, but guess what…I didn’t even look fat in the photo!  That is progress!

I went out Friday night with the J-man, his band (HIT & RUN) was playing.  It’s been 2 years since Ben died and they played at one of Ben’s favorite venues called The Doublewide.  We had a great time and I even got to meet some of my Facebook friends in person.

Monday Emma was running a fever.  So pitiful.  It only lasted one day and one night and all is good with her today.  Doesn’t she look so sweet here…

Yesterday I went to the thrift store and dropped off a Suburban load of stuff!  Yes!  I emptied 6 totes in our garage of stuff!  All gone and available to clutter up someone elses house.  Still working on getting the house more decluttered.  It’s coming along though.  Anyhow, while at the thrift store I noticed they were having sales on everything.  Most things were 20% off and I scored this beauty!

So what’s going on with you?

Wordless Wednesday, as if….

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

I went to the Rheumatologist last week and he checked me again for Fibromyalgia and did confirm his previous diagnosis.  I have it.  However, he still does not believe my horrible arm pain and head jerking headaches are caused by it.

He said that the hospital never x-rayed my elbow, so now I need to go have that done.  Maybe something in there is messed up and causing this crap.  He also re-ran my labs and now, since having the tumor removed…my Thyroid is testing normal. Thank God!  I did not need another problem on top of all the others.

My Red Blood Cell count is still low and he will re-test that again to see if that is because of the recent surgery.  My SED rate is still pretty high.  We will also re-test that again.

For now though, we are trying Neurontin.  I started it on Saturday and so far no strange side effects.  I have to work myself up gradually.  So, right now I am taking one pill before bed.  After 2 weeks I move to one in the morning and one before bed.  Then we will increase as needed for there.

I have not taken a pain pill for any surgery related pain since Saturday.  All my horrible pain seems to be from my arm now.  It sucks.  Hopefully we will have an answer soon.

On the plus side…the weight is like falling off of me! It’s awesome!

For my “Wordless” Wednesday photo I have chosen to show you the itty bitty butterfly that hung out with Jenny and I.  I never met such a friendly critter!

Wordless Wednesday, Damn it’s Hot!

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Summer is here and it is hot as hell in Texas!  Trying to do everything we can to stay cool!  We’ve already had the AC break down and had to get a new one…ugh, the joys of Texas heat!  We have been busy busy busy and I tell you what, I am worn out!

The surgery has taken a lot out of me.  I find myself napping these days.  Napping is something I have only done while pregnant or very sick.  Even a trip to the grocery store has me wiped out and sleeping on the couch for a nap.

Today I see the Rheumatologist.  I know I will be getting more labs done to see which abnormal labs were taken care of by the removal of the tumor.  I do know how much my non baby weighed, but we are going to save that information for a contest for you all.  So hold tight…

My Not So Wordless Wednesday

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

We’ve been busy this week with Vacation Bible School.  It is the first time for the littlest ones.  Morgan has not been since she was a toddler.  They are absolutely loving it!  The one we are attending this week ends today.  It was actually a free one that included all my girls!  A lot of them I have found do not go up to Morgans grade and age.

I’m slowly recovering from surgery, but my head jerking and arm pain is getting worse by the day.  I have an appointment next week to run my labs again..great another $500 and something dollars.  It must be done though to see what has changed since removing the tumor.  I’ll update after that appointment.

A few days ago Morgan took the girls for a walk.  Lauren came back with a gift for me.  She told me she found a heart for me.  It was so sweet and I think it looks beautiful!  The girls also played in the sprinkler for the first time this year and had a blast!  Simple things I tell ya! It’s all about the simple things!

Please remember to vote for me daily.  My family truly needs to win this.  It is a photo of my Frankenbelly and is listed as Brandy A.  Click here to vote.  The rules read you can vote one time per day PER EMAIL address.  So if you have more than one you can vote with each one!  Thank you so much!

Wordless Wednesday, Wordless…as if!

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

One thing I have notice more often these days is how people rush through life.  Whenever people find out about things that I do they say things like “If only I had the time” or “I don’t have time to do that like you do“.  Whatever.  You don’t have time because you don’t make time, or you waste your time.

For one thing I don’t really watch Television….ok right now that is technically a lie.  Since I am confined to the couch most of the time from surgery I have been watching some shows.  I can not begin to describe how mind numbing most of this crap is!  I have come across some things I could not believe.  Television is a huge time waster!  Don’t get me wrong, I love to watch movies, but sitting on my ass all day watching Television just doesn’t work for me.

I am busy all the time.  ALL THE TIME.  But, I take time.  I enjoy it and use it.  I just want you all to take some time.  Time to do something that makes you happy, time spent with your family, time learning a new skill or hobby.  Don’t waste the time you have, that clock is ticking.

Take time to enjoy life!
