Lauren has been discussing getting her ears pierced over the last two months. I wanted her to be sure. I wanted her to be prepared.
I don’t allow the girls to get pierced with piercing guns. We have it done professionally with piercing needles that are hollow with a laser cut edge. These actually cut the flesh away for the hole. They do not rip, this leaves a clean cut for a better healing piercing.
To read more about how I feel about piercing please read this post I wrote about the dangers of “piercing guns”.
Piercing properly takes just a little time. A child needs to be prepared so that they are not scared. Lauren was getting her first holes and Morgan was getting new holes added. There is a moment that the needle is through the ear and then the jewelry is pushed through after it. It’s fairly quick. There was no flinching, wiggling, crying or even the word ouch.
Please make an informed decision before having your child’s ears pierced.
Monday was my birthday. I had saved up Amazon Gift Cards so that I could buy a new lens for my camera, I was only short $45 so that part was covered by my mom and dad as part of Christmas! Thanks Mom and Dad! I bought a Nikon 50mm f/1.8G AF-S NIKKOR! It came Monday night and I was able to use it Tuesday for the first time!
It will definitely take some getting used to, I shoot a lot with my 300mm…so it’s a huge change! Here are a few shots of my girls that I took with it yesterday.
Morgan got an awesome new hair cut! I love it!

Lauren’s top two teeth are extremely loose! They should come out any day! Maybe today is the day? They are so loose that they stick out over her lip hahaha!

Lauren loves to climb trees, her daddy gave her this tree in our front yard. She loves her tree!
Emma was running around and slipped on a stick! Yes a stick! Don’t worry! I had already given her hugs and kisses before taking this photo. She was just telling me what happened.
Just minutes later she is back to normal…she really needs some chapstick!

Teenagers…they’re so weird! Recently Morgan’s best friend turned 13. So now they are teenagers together. Jenny, my bestie and also Hanna’s mama took the girls to downtown Dallas for some fun photos. The girls had a blast and so did we. Below are just a few of the shots from that day.

I have a ton more, but I’m only going to share one more today…… Be sure to like Loudmouth Photography on Facebook!
Hanna says “What’s that smell?“

How was your Halloween? Are you children in sugar coma’s yet? Have your husbands ransacked the candy bags? My kids keep tricking me. They know I am easily distracted. When I am concentrating on something they ask me if they can have “…just one more piece?” I unknowingly say “yea, sure“. Totally taking advantage of their sick mama!
Seriously though, they haven’t tricked me too many times…but they sure keep trying!

I’ve told you what an amazing baker Morgan is. She is only 13 and can bake the most tasty and pretty things! She makes an amazing Banana Chocolate Chunk Bread that knocks Starbucks into the ground. She rocks the kitchen!
Most recently she wanted to bake a cake for her best friends birthday. Hanna loves her some Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. So what better cake to make than one filled and covered with Peanut Butter Cups?
I can not even begin to describe how awesome this cake was! If you are allergic to Peanuts, I am so very very sorry! This is just so amazing.
Peanut Butter Frosting
Make sure to center your rack in the oven and then preheat to 350°. Butter two 9″×2″ round cake pans, then dust the insides with flour.
Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a medium mixing bowl.
Soften the butter in the microwave, then beat until soft and creamy. Add the sugar and beat for about 2 minutes, until thoroughly blended into the butter. Beat in the eggs and yolks one at a time. Next, beat in the vanilla. Add the dry ingredients alternating with the buttermilk. Mix each addition only until it is blended into the batter.
Divide the batter between the 2 prepared cake pans.
Bake for 26-30 minutes or until the cakes feel springy to the touch and start to pull away from the sides of the pans. Let cool for about 10 minutes, then run a knife around the sides of the cakes, and transfer to cool completely on a wire rack.
Place the confectioners’ sugar, peanut butter, butter, vanilla, and salt in a bowl and mix until creamy, scraping down the bowl with a rubber spatula as you work. Add the cream and beat until the mixture is light and smooth.
To assemble the cake, place one cake layer on a cardboard cake circle. Spread peanut butter frosting on top of the cake. Then sprinkle with chopped Reese’s cups. Place the second cake layer on top of the frosting. Frost the top and outside of the cake with remaining peanut butter frosting. Decorate with Miniature as well as halved and chopped Reese’s Peanut Butter cups.

Morgan’s team had their first game on Thursday. The deal was that you had to win 2 out of 3 games to win! They won the first 2 and there was no need to play a 3rd! They were so pumped and happy!
She is loving Volleyball and has decided to play on both the Jr. High and the Highschool team! That means 3 hours of practice! She says she is up for it.
Next comes Basketball!
So we’ve had 2 birthdays this month! Morgan turned 13 and Emma turned 5! Wow! One teenager and then my baby is officially a big girl now.
Kind of sad and happy all at the same time. Read More→
You know when it rains, it pours…right now it’s a freaking hurricane. One thing after another keeps going wrong, including my car breaking down yet again. This time with the children in the car with me. UGH. I had to push the Suburban quite a long way to get it out of traffic and out of towing zones. Read More→
Tonight our family was faced with very hard decision. Morgan has two dogs, Blue and Bullet. She used to have a dog named Belle who was Blue’s mother. Both Belle and Bullet are rescues and both Blue Heelers. Well, Belle was a Blue Heeler mix and Bullet is a full Blue Heeler. Read More→
Wow! I have let myself get so behind on so many things! I have so much to tell you about and have not had a moment for a personal post. Hang tight, I promise it’s coming! One thing all my girls love is books! Morgan could easily read a book a day if I let her read all day. She reads a lot, but I have to break her out of the house some days!
Allie is a 9 year old girl who is trying to figure things out, especially the 4th grade. To keep her self straight she jots down rules on being a good sister, student, and friend. Read More→
Morgan is way more girlier than I ever was. She loves make up and is really good at it, me…not so good. She fixes her hair every day, me…maybe once a month. She likes jewelry! She likes it so much that I think she should try making her own. I think she would be pretty good at it.
I found some pandora style beads that she would really like. This would probably be a good hobby for her and I am putting jewelery making supplies on my Christmas Shopping list. She could probably even start herself a little business doing it. She could make necklaces, bracelets, earrings and even rings! My friend Jessica just started making rings with vintage buttons, so cute.
I don’t think it would be too expensive to get her set up. Maybe I could find some of the supplies used. I know a lot of people go all out buying tons of supplies because they have an interest in something and then those supplies get shoved in a closet and never used again. I think this would be really fun for her.
What do you think? Have you ever made jewelry? Do you think it is too expensive to get into?
This past year Morgan has gotten so girlie! She still loves to play sports and be outdoors with animals, now she just does it with makeup on and her hair done.
Her appearance is very important to her these days. So much more than it was to me at that age. Thankfully she is good at doing her makeup. She does it very tastefully. She wears heavier eye makeup, but it works for her since she wears glasses.
Her hair is the biggest deal now! She keeps borrowing my Flat Iron. So much so that I have to search for it when I need it! So I guess it is time for her to have her own. She has been wanting her own for awhile now and is always showing me Flat Iron Reviews almost daily! I guess I’m going to have to give in! I did wait long enough to be sure this was a need and not a phase. She fixes herself up daily, so it’s time.
She is wanting the Karmin G3 Salon Pro Flat Iron, the kid isn’t messing around! I have to agree that pro Flat Irons are so much better than the cheapies that you get at the local store. The difference is insane! So, I can see the need for her to get a nice one…but she’s going to have to wait for Christmas!
I love, love, love vintage cameras. I don’t even care if they work or not. I like the way the look, I like to think about the history they may have captured. Who owned it before me?
I have been lucky to find some while hunting at local thrift stores. One even came with the owners manual where the person who had purchased it had written the year and place they bought the camera at. How cool is that?
They have a lot of character!! Actually all things vintage have this same appeal for me. I even found a vintage pair of roller skates! You know the oldschool metal ones that you strapped over your shoe? They even have metal wheels!! I’ll post a photo of them later.
I also wanted to share a photo of Morgan with one of the horses from Horse Camp, where she volunteers. Last Saturday was the last day.
