CLOSED, Winner was Storm!

I don’t have an iPhone.  For some reason Sprint and the iPhone haven’t started a relationship yet.  It bites.  But I do have the iPod Touch and that little baby is my brain!  With all I have going on with Meds, Appointments, Pain Diary, etc…it is all there and so much more!

I also use it to entertain the girls while waiting for appointments, or when they ask to play it.  Everything on there is fun as well as educational for them.  There are tons of apps that are perfect for toddlers on up.  Some of my favorite Apps for the girls are:

  • Bug Builder
  • Sam’s Remote (iCarly)
  • Teach Me Kindergarten
  • Matching Zoo
  • Shapes
  • Spell That
  • BrainPop
  • Vocab 4-6
  • ABC Maze
  • FlashToPass Free
  • AlphaBaby Free
  • Battleship

These are all skill building games, the  girls have a lot of fun playing them and are always asking for my iPod.  It really comes in handy while waiting at places for appointments and such.

A few days ago, Mom Central introduced us to My Living Stories.  These animated storys bring both new stories and classics to life on the iPhone and iPod Touch.  The artwork, narration and interactive features are loved by the girls. It’s easy enough that they can read along by themselves without any help from me.  If you wanted you can record your own voice to go along with the story (this feature requires an iPhone or iPod Touch with microphone capabilities).

The My Living Story classic stories include:

  • Princess & the Pea
  • King Midas
  • The Tortoise & the Hare
  • Little Red Riding Hood
  • Goldilocks and the Three Bears

As part of the My Living Stories Blog Tour, I was able to try out 3 of the 5 My Living Stories apps.  Little Red Riding Hood, King Midas and The Tortoise and the Hare.

Our opinion:

Love it!  The girls have listened to the stories over and over and that is just great.  Repetitiveness helps with the learning process.  Especially with reading!  I would love to get some more stories on my iPod for them.

The internet can save you so much money shopping for holiday gifts! You have all the info you need right at your fingertips without having to leave your home and fight the crowds.  You can be sure you are getting the best deal without driving from store to store.

Cheap Holiday Gifts is the goal for me and my family! There are some great deals to be had and I am going to find them!  I want to get gifts that I know the J-man and the girls actually need and will use.  Not something that will be played with for 2 days and forgotten.  That would just be throwing away money.  I want practical useful gifts for my family.

gpsFor instance, the J-man could totally use a GPS unit! He is a general contractor, so he is going to new places all the time.  Also, traveling with his band.  This is something he could use pretty much daily!  I would also like to get the family a handheld one for geo caching.  We went once not too long ago with 4H and it was a blast!

-!Apple 2GB iPod Shuffle Silver--258908820Morgan would totally dig getting the Apple 2GB iPod Shuffle! She has a cheapy MP3 player and the sound quality is horrible.  This one should be plenty good for her and allow her to listen to her music wherever she may be.  I think we are a bit behind the time since none of us have an iPod.  Honestly, I don’t even know the difference between an iPod and an MP3 player.  I think I am techy ignorant.  I’m working on it though.

I plan on getting a smartphone for myself.  I need one.  My whole life revolves around being able to access the internet.  With a smartphone I could access my life wherever I may be at anyBlackBerry Curve 8330 given moment.  I’m leaning towards the Blackberry.  A few of my friends have them and absolutely love them.  I think this would be a perfect gift for me…hint hint…
