A lot of stuff was going on during the Holidays and we did not make it to the theater to see THE MUPPETS.    But I am happy to announce that it will be released this March!  Wooohooo!

Film Synopsis

On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, his brother Gary (Jason Segel) and Gary’s girlfriend, Mary (Amy Adams), from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze Muppet Studios and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage a telethon and raise the $10 million needed to save the studio, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways:  Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate.

Disney’s “The Muppets” is directed by James Bobin (“Flight of the Conchords,” “The Ali G Show”) and produced by the Academy Award ® -nominated team of David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman (“The Fighter,” “The Proposal”) with a screenplay written by Segel & Nicholas Stoller (“Get Him to the Greek”), who also serve as executive producers along with John G. Scotti and “The Muppet Show” veteran Martin G. Baker. Bret McKenzie, who created, co-wrote, executive-produced and starred in the hit HBO television series “Flight of the Conchords,” is the music supervisor as well as the writer/producer of three original songs. Original score is by Christophe Beck, Michael Rooney is the choreographer, Rahel Afiley is the costume designer, and James Thomas is the editor. Steve Saklad is the production designer, and Don Burgess, A.S.C., is the director of photography.

My girls are huge fans of all of the Barbie movies.  They have most of them and have seen all of them!  Barbie, A Perfect Christmas is no different!  In fact they have watched it several times since we have received it.

The all-new DVD, “Barbie: A Perfect Christmas” stars Barbie and her three sisters – Skipper, Stacy and Chelsea, whose holiday vacation turns into an unexpected adventure filled with new friends and magical experiences. In the end, the sisters learn a heartwarming lesson that the joy of being together is what really makes A Perfect Christmas! Released November 8th at all major retailers.

This holiday season, Barbie celebrates 10 years of entertainment!  Can you believe that this is the 22nd DVD to be released?

This would be a fantastic Christmas present for the little Barbie lover in your life.  You can even purchase the dolls, including her three sisters from Target.

The movie really reinforces the importance of family and teaches kids that it is so important to spend the holidays with our family and loved ones.   There is no better time than the holidays to teach important lessons like this to our children.  Especially the importance of family.

As I said before, my girls absolutely loved the movie.  The thing they love best about all the Barbie movies are the songs!  They will sing and sing and sing their little hearts out.  They also thought it was so cool that Barbie’s sisters were in the movie!  If you have Barbie fans, they will love this!  As a parent I love the Barbie movies for my children because of the positive lessons that are enforced through out the movies.  Barbie always makes the best of any situation that she may find herself in…that is what we try to teach our kids by example at our house.

One of the recent DVD’s to be watched on a daily basis in our home is The Littlest Angel!  If you talk to my girls about the movie they will tell you “It’s a really great movie about Jesus and there is a little dog called Halo and it’s really really good!

Haha!  Yes, they kind of love this movie!

The Littlest Angelwould be the perfect gift to put under the tree this year!  It’s perfect for Christmas because it shows kids how the greatest gifts in life are faith, friendship and doing the right thing.  Children need to be reminded of this often, well us adults as well! It is brand new release that just came out on November 15th of this year.

The Littlest Angel tells the story of a young boy who arrives in heaven before his time. Home-sick and lonely, he will travel back to earth, with his friendly pup Halo, to retrieve a most selfless and precious gift for The Baby Jesus. First released in book form in 1946, The Littlest Angel became popular for its ornate words and phrases paired with beautifully muted oil paintings. Tazewell’s book was adapted into a TV musical in 1969 starring Johnny Whitaker, and theatrical versions continue to be done by schools and church groups today. The author would follow-up with another childhood favorite, “The Littlest Snowman,” that would be read annually on the “Captain Kangaroo” show.

We love VeggieTales over here! I love the lessons that are taught all while being entertaining and fun for the girls.  You could stop over anytime and during that time you are sure to hear a song or two from VeggieTales being sang by the little ones…sometimes even daddy and mommy!

The lessons taught in VeggieTales actually stick too! The other day something happened and Emma says to Lauren, “it’s ok, I forgive you” and then when I told her I was proud of her she says to me “we are supposed to forgive 70×7! ’cause God says…I learned that on VeggieTales.

So yea, I love some VeggieTales! These characters have been going strong since before I ever had children! It’s one of those shows you can put on and know that your kids will be ok watching it.  You don’t need to be there to monitor it for content.

The 2 newest DVD’s are Veggie Tales Bob Lends a Helping Hand and Veggie Tales: Larry Learns To Listen. As with every other one we have ever watched, the girls love them and have been watching them over and over.

About VeggieTales Larry Learns to Listen

When Larry’s new Space Squadron game finally arrives, he’s so anxious to play that he forgets to read the directions. When his friends do their best to tell him, Larry refuses to listen! What happens? His game goes ‘KERPOW!’ That’s when Larry learns a valuable lesson in listening as his friends come to the rescue. Kids will discover, right along with Larry, that God gave friends and family to help us through each day—so when we listen we don’t miss what others have to say! Also includes two classic shows: “Pistachio” and “Josh and the Big Wall.”

DVD Bonus Features:

  • Sing-Along to “Larry Learns to Listen”
  • Visit a Marionette Theater
  • Sing-Along to “Song of the Cebu”
  • Interactive Book

About VeggieTales Bob Lends a Helping Hand

When Joe’s mom breaks her big left toe, Bob the Tomato decides to help. Larry and Joe offer their ‘superhero’ help, too, but that’s not exactly what Bob has in mind. Kids will discover right along with Larry and Joe that everyone can be a superhero if you lend a helping hand! Also includes two classic shows, “Tomato Sawyer and Huckleberry Larry’s Big River Rescue” and “Lyle the Kindly Viking.”

DVD Bonus Features:

  • Sing-Along to “Bob Lends A Helping Hand”
  • Boiling River Family Activity (From “Lyle the Kindly Viking” show)
  • How to Draw Tom and Huck (From “Tomato Sawyer and Huckleberry Larry’s Big River Rescue” show)
  • Interactive Book

I also wanted to let you know that Winnie the Pooh is on it’s way!  The Blu-ray & DVD will be released on October 25th, 2011!

I can not wait for my girls to see it!  When I went to Hollywood I was lucky enough to get to meet some of the main creators of this movie!  We were able to see a sneak peak, they gave me a cuddly Piglet doll and the best part…I have an original signed and numbered sketch from the actual mock ups! That was like one of the biggest moments in my life!  Being an artist and having someone give me an original piece of Disney animation history???? Blew my mind! Thank you Disney!

It is so awesome to be able to relive things from my childhood with my girls. The Fox and the Hound was one of my favorite movies!  I loved it so so much!  I didn’t even know there was a part 2!

Watching this movie with the girls made me release how good movies for kids used to be.  It’s hard to find that anymore.  You really have to be choosy in what you let your kids watch.  We moderate TV in our home to be sure that there isn’t too much junk being fed to the girls.

The Fox and the Hound is a great family movie. It teaches some great lessons about friendship.  The girls have already watched it several times! They love it!  Isn’t it cool to share things like this with our own children?  The image quality is amazing!  They sure have come a long way!

The Fox and the Hound & The Fox and the Hound Two (Three-Disc 30th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray / DVD Combo in Blu-ray Packaging) was released earlier this month. It’s been digitally restored as well. It;s hard to believe that this movie came out in 1981!

Disney has included 5 bonus features! They are as follows:

Blu-ray Disc:

· Unlikely Friends: A fun and fascinating Collection of Unlikely Friendships in the Animal Kingdom (ALL-NEW) — Friendships know no boundaries. They can occur across country lines, be shared among young and old and even develop between different species!

DVD’s:

· The Fox and the Hound:

o “Best of Friends” Sing-A-Long – Viewers are invited to sing along with Pearl Bailey on this Walt Disney Classic Song.

o Passing the Baton: Making of The Fox and the Hound – This feature allows fans to take a deeper look at this little bit of Disney history as legendary animators hand over the reins to a new generation.

· The Fox and the Hound 2 :

o “You Know I Will” Music Video – High School Musical Star Lucas Grabeel sings this end-credit song.

o The Making of the Music – Music is the center stage in The Fox and the Hound 2. As such, this feature showcases how the songs in the film were created with Reba McEntire, Trisha Yearwood and some of the hottest performers in Nashville. Viewers will further discover how animation and music work together to further enhance a classic story.

The Fox and The Hound, Disney’s 24th animated feature released in 1981, marked a “changing of the guard” from the legendary “nine old men,” including Wolfgang Reitherman, Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston, who had joined the studio its very early days and worked closely with Walt Disney to develop Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the very first animated feature, then went on to create timeless classics such as Cinderella,Bambi and Lady and the Tramp. These iconic figures passed the torch to a new generation of animators including Ron Clements (Animated Screenplay/Story Artist on The Princess and the Frog, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid) Glen Keane (Animation Supervisor/Directing Animator on Tangled, Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid) and John Musker (Animation Supervisor/Directing Animator on Princess and the Frog, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid), who would lead Disney animation’s renaissance in the 1980’s with new landmark animated films such as The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast.

The voice talent on The Fox and the Hound was also a mix of old and new Hollywood with veterans such as Mickey Rooney (National Velvet, The Black Stallion), Pearl Bailey (Porgy and Bess) and Pat Buttram (TV’s “Green Acres”) joining up-and-coming stars Kurt Russell (Escape From New York, Miracle) and Corey Feldman (Stand By Me, The Lost Boys).

In 2006, Copper, Tod and their friends were brought back for The Fox and the Hound 2, featuring the vocal talents of Patrick Swayze (Ghost, Dirty Dancing), Reba McEntire (TV’s “Reba”), Lucas Grabeel (Disney Channel’s “High School Musical” franchise) and Trisha Yearwood (country music singer).
